THE FIRST PURGE Ignites War And Unrest In The First Official Trailer

Director Gerard McMurray brought viewers a darkly scintilating, brutal perspective with fraternity hazing drama, Burning Sands. He's now back in the fray having offered up his craft at the helm once more in what looks to be an even more exciting follow-up to his work now in the good graces of Universal Pictures, Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes for the fourth and next installment of The Purge franchise with the July 4 release of The First Purge.

Writer and creator James DeMonaco pens the chilling narrative once more that now peers into the backstory exploring the inaugural 12 hours of the annual Purge initiative following the establishment of the New Founding Fathers Of America, turning a page into a gruesome, violent and hellish, and thankfully fictional, page in American history. The principal cast is led by Y’Lan Noel, Lex Scott Davis, Joivan Wade, Luna Lauren Velez and the venerable Marisa Tomei.
To push the crime rate below one percent for the rest of the year, the New Founding Fathers of America (NFFA) test a sociological theory that vents aggression for one night in one isolated community.  But when the violence of oppressors meets the rage of the marginalized, the contagion will explode from the trial-city borders and spread across the nation.

Coming off the most successful film in the series, The Purge: Election Year, creator James DeMonaco (writer/director of The Purge, The Purge: Anarchy and The Purge: Election Year) returns alongside the producers of this worldwide phenomenon: Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum (Insidious series, Get Out, Split), Platinum Dunes partners Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Ouija series, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and DeMonaco’s longtime production partner, Sébastien K. Lemercier (Assault on Precinct 13, Four Lovers).
The first official trailer is online and packing some serious, stimulating action for its horror millieu, and looks to be an exciting addition to a growing franchise prior to its current television expansion. Check it out below!
