THR confirming his attachment to a Nightwing feature film inspired by the DC Comics property in its shared legacy with the Dark Knight himself, Batman.
I suppose with The Raid re-adaptation, Uncharted, Bad Boys For Life and X-Force piling on that Stretch and Smokin' Aces helmer Joe Carnahan would have to cast aside something. Of course, that would be action star Jackie Chan's Five Against A Bullet for which the pair were set to work on as of December following its lingering development since 2010.
The funny thing about the new announcement from Warner Bros. Pictures regarding The Batman is that it makes no mention of actor Ben Affleck. This probably means that rumors of the actor's departure from the role probably won't go away though fans may still expect him in the forthcoming Justice League films from director Zack Snyder.
It was back in 2015 that award-winning filmmaker Bao Tran graced netizens with an amazing original kung fu action shortfilm titled The Challenger. To that end, I got to achieve quite a bit in interviewing Tran and performers Andy Le and Unlucky Stars actor Ken Quitugua and assuredly, I can attest that this project has a much more prospective and grand reach.
Public-listed China-based Recon Holding has reportedly acquired the majority interest in the independent film staple, Millennium Films according to a new press announcement. News of the deal in its development began circulating as early as last week.
Director Walter Hill's latest action thriller hasn't yet picked up steam in the U.S. for its release but it's getting the Digital HD and DVD treatment when Tomboy arrives respectively in the U.K. on March 13 and April 3. And yes, you read correctly. That's the title they get whereas the title in other markets may be anywhere from (Re)Assignment to The Assignment...
Wednesday brought a flurry of news surrounding director Joe Carnahan who gave a slate of exclusives to various sites, including Collider.com and ComingSoon.net. Thus, following breaking news over The Raid remake and Uncharted, it was Comicbook.com that brought us the word that Carnahan is the man poised to direct the forthcoming X-Force adaptation.

Yes, that is the movie that War Party duo, Frank Grillo and director Joe Carnahan are setting out to remaster with their own vision. It's been an epicenter of much brouhaha for many a fan who already think that the 2011 Iko Uwais-led starrer and its sequel from director Gareth Huw Evans is enough with a third pending and a fanbase this apprehensive toward anything they love like The Raid being remade in any capacity is likely hard to please.
Arguably, there's almost no question that Gareth Edwards's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story delivered something pretty cool back in December as a one-off from the Star Wars canon, telling of a story of ragtag rebels who set out to influence the major battle ahead for the Rebel Alliance against the Empire. Indeed, more can be expected in the forthcoming book installation, Inferno Squad, which hits shelves this July while we await the story to be told of one of the saga's biggest and most pivotal figures in next year's Han Solo spin-off film from directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
the latest developments with Simon Kinberg's latest attachment to possibly write and direct the next movie in question. That said, we now advance toward small screen endeavors wherein it was last summer that Bryan Singer and Matt Nix were officially reported as on-board for a pilot committment with Fox Television's advancement of a live-action X-Men TV series inspired by the hit Marvel franchise.
Director Baran bo Odar's crime remake, Sleepless, is still in my personal viewing queue and eventually I'll post my own thoughts on it in a review or via Instagram. In the meantime the film is heading to DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital in the coming weeks with Jamie Foxx spearheading the action and thrills, and Universal Pictures is more than pleased to accomodate.
I as much as anyone can't wait to spend the weekend of March 17 digesting Netflix's new Marvel installation, Iron Fist. Finn Jones stars in the title role based on the comic book tale of a young plane crash survivor who, years later, follows up with his mysterious return to New York City with a special skill set he'll need to take down the plutocrats running his father's business and legacy, and the city, into darkness.
I haven't yet seen X-Men: Apocalypse so I couldn't tell you my opinion on it just yet, but the word now from Collider is that Simon Kinberg is poised to direct the next film in the franchise for 20th Century Fox. For this, the report also suggests it may possible, albeit currently unclear, that actress Sophie Turner may reprise her role as Jean Grey in the supposed film following earlier reports of Josh Boone's own development of said film previous noted as being based on The New Mutants story back in 2015.

The new Han Solo spin-off film still doesn't have an official title, but we now have our first look at a cast photo marking the start of principal photography at Pinewood Studios as of Monday. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (The Lego Movie) are directing the film as one of several current spin-offs for Disney and Lucasfilm's on-going Star Wars saga in lieu of Rian Johnson's coming Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
SATRIA HEROES: REVENGE OF DARKNESS Lands A Trailer For Indonesian Tokusatsu Feature Film With Yayan Ruhian
Tokusatsu gained a foothold in Indonesia with the 2013 series run, Bima Satria Garuda. Since then, the show which centered on a young hero's discovery of a power stone to take on the evil Vudo empire after a mysterious alien portal to Earth emerges, spawned a sequel series in 2015 and is now on deck for a full feature film expansion.
Alan Mak, prolific co-helmer of the Infernal Affairs and Overheard movies recently paired up with co-director Anthony Pun (cinematographer: The White Storm, Monster Hunt) for a stellar new action thriller coming this Spring. That film arrives in the form of Extraordinary Mission and while not much was known at the time about this film, at least two teasers were unveiled to the public eye last year that were pretty attention getting.

So, I finally saw John Wick: Chapter Two and you can read my review here...
I don't really have much to add about the latest trailer for Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword. It looks epic but I can't say I'm hugely impressed by it so far and to establish this as the first of a whole franchise of titles may be stretching it. We'll see how this goes.
Independent filmmaker Franklin Correa is back this year and switching gears just a bit from his usual action-tethered efforts in films like Flash Drive and Mistaken. Thus, we get a first trailer for upcoming action horror, Lyco which centers on a collector who is but one of several people eyeing an ancient relic smuggled into the U.S., including a sadistic voodoo serial killer with more nefarious purposes.
Nobody just kills John Wick and lives to tell about it. To that end, you would think, at least from a preventive viewpoint, that his reputation would span far enough to the resident killers, thugs and elitist psychopaths operating in the criminal underworld at large but... nope. Eventually some ambitious villain will come along and push things further into entropy - a realm lined well with the corpses of underlings so as to reaffirm just how much of a gluttonous, self-important asshole one has to be to witness Wick's reputation in action the hard way, after the fact.

Having been a festival favorite at places including Sitges, Fantastic Fest, Screamfest, and Fantasy Film Festival, it's pretty clear Archstone made a great choice with its acquisition of Mike Mendez's new horror thriller, Don't Kill It. Its trailer has been viral off and on for sometime now and thankfully it has a limited theatrical and digital release date set for March 3 - a day of all days for anyone looking forward to going to see some action movies on the big screen. And Dolph Lundgren starring? Easy sell.

Lionsgate took to Facebook today in one of the best marketing strategies by far for a film ahead of its release. With a reaction video counter to 75,000, it was only a matter of time before the second official trailer for Dean Israelite's latest, Power Rangers, would air online, and thus, it has.

Action Film International is reportedly gearing up for a project in the Spring with re-emerging Egyptian actor and martial artist Yousef Mansour according to a recent press announcement. Titled The Chosen Guard, the new Arabic/English language action thriller will mark his fourth feature film after debuting in 1991 with Helali's Fist, and in up to sixteen years since starring in the 2001 film, Badr in which he also debuted as director.
It was a few years ago that Finnish filmmaker, actor and stunt coordinator Ramin Sohrab landed on our radar with a slick proof teaser for a project called Malek. He already has several acting and stunt credits to his name as well as in film but Malek, in its circulation, was what eventually caught my eye having seen it written about elsewhere.

Truy Sat co-star Cuong Seven makes his starring role here and for a teaser that has already begun catching on, bolstered by some of the big stuntwork highlight throughout while we await further details on the project.
Three years since the release of Warner Bros. Japan's live-action adaptation, Black Butler, U.S. anime staple Funimation has announced the film as its latest acquisition for a May 2 release on Blu-Ray and DVD. Kentaro Otani and Keiichi Satou directed the film hailing from its roots at Square Enix from Yana Toboso's 2006 manga publication.

Getting a martial arts action picture off the ground these days is not easy. What helps, of course, is the initiative, talent and the necessary support base to further substantiate the demand for such a film and thankfully, it's the kind of support that the folks over at German martial arts, stunt and film production group, Reel Deal Action, have been able to accumulate in the well over five-year period in which its members have been upscaling in the industry.
San Andreas helmer Brad Peyton is well on his way with several projects, one of which now includes the female-driven action thriller, Ruthless from scribe John Swetnam. If you're still in love with director Gareth Huw Evans's The Raid and its 2014 hit sequel, you can still purchase both in a terrific package at Amazon. In the meantime, there has been much ado about remaking the first film which released in 2014 and it is still a hot topic among many a fan of the film pining for what lies ahead for its original stars in their current career growth, including Iko Uwais who will appear with actor Frank Grillo in the upcoming sci-fi, Beyond Skyline.

If you've decided that you're not feeling any of action star Jackie Chan's new stuff these days or if you still prefer his old school gems, you're probably not alone. Thus, you're likely among the niche in the U.K. aware of who Eureka Entertainment is and may even be delighted about their latest "Masters Of Cinema" announcement, the 4K Blu-Ray restoration of Chan's 1978 kung fu classic, Drunken Master.
I can't say much about the 3D version, but you can bet that director Derek Yee's own Death Duel reimagining, Sword Master, was an entertaining feat. I actually planned on seeing John Wick: Chapter Two this past weekend but ultimately ended up staying in. A few things factored into that with lack of sleep being one of them - as tasking as the Hit List is, I kinda needed the energy.
Action star and actor Donnie Yen has been enjoying a rather celebratory year. Two Hollywood films in with the hopeful prospect of another, it was just last month that he wrapped his latest pairing with director Wong Jing for the forthcoming Hong Kong crime drama, Chasing The Dragon.

Director James Gunn's May 5 release, Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol. 2 has reportedly tested and been rated a perfect 100 among insiders according to The Hollywood Reporter, which is very good news for actor Dave Bautista who has several titles set to arrive this year.
