Action Thriller EX-BAGHDAD Casts Jackie Chan And Sylvester Stallone

In the several years that followed martial arts star Jackie Chan's claim to crossover fame after Rumble In The Bronx, the actor's continued proliferation in Hollywood stirred further ruminations over potential film development in some capacity with actor Sylvester Stallone's involvement. Granted, a swell idea at the time although the two were already well into their own respective career trajectories, and so one might have been forgiven for being skeptic over the idea of a Chan/Stallone movie happening.

That all changed on Thursday evening with word of the new action thriller, Ex-Baghdad from Need For Speed and Act Of Valor helmer Scott Waugh. Arash Amel wrote the screenplay for the $80 million dollar-budgeted action film as one of the biggest budget project out of China with Chan producing through his SR Media banner as well as Qi Jianhong and Talent International's Esmond Ren and Hans Canosa is also producing. Both SR Media and Talent International will also finance the movie.

When a China-run oil refinery is attacked in Mosul, Iraq, a Chinese private security contractor (Chan) is called in to extract the oil workers. He learns, however, that the attackers’ real plan is to steal a fortune in oil, and teams up with an American former Marine (Stallone) to stop them.
The film was reportedly the one Stallone turned to after abandoning previous properties such as Rambo and The Expendables. Stallone was on hand for Chan's acceptance of an Honorary Governors' Award from the Academy last November. Ex-Baghdad will be their first movie together as details await further ironing out while Stallone also readies a third installment of Escape Plan, and Chan preps Shanghai Dawn and a long-suspected fourth Rush Hour, among other titles.
