THE MUMMY Awakens Online With The First Official Trailer

The 1999 Stephen Sommers-directed The Mummy, and its sequel in 2001 are still two of the most fun and memorable swashbuckling action adventure flicks ever made. Both were award-winning with numerous nominations to their credit preceding the third which faltered, critically, but still managed to garner interest for a fourth film until about four years ago.

Fast forward to Sunday and with moves already being made at Universal Pictures to culminate its iconic monster movieverse starting with the 2014 release of Dracula Untold, the next step now set to arrive next summer brings us Alex Kurtzman's own revival of The Mummy with Tom Cruise and Annabelle Wallis leading the cast. Thus, following an announcement a few days ago, we now have our first official trailer revealing a darker-toned piece of work riddled with supernatural suspense, intrigue, and lots of surprising action with none other than actress Sofia Boutella taking the mantle.

SYNOPSIS:
Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
Also starring are Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance and Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe. Watch the brand new trailer below!
