THE HUMANITY BUREAU Commences Production Starring Nicolas Cage And More

I confess, it's been a while since I've seen a Nicolas Cage film. Point in fact I think the last time I saw a Cage film in full was the 2011 revenge action horror, Drive Angry - I tried watching Outcast but I honestly can't finish that one without feeling the least bit sick to my stomach.

Nonetheless, this week's announcement of the new virtual reality-shot sci-fi action pic, The Humanity Bureau, seems like an ample treat from the folks over at Minds Eye Entertainment and VMI Worldwide along with Bridgegate Pictures. Something More helmer Rob King is directing from a script written by 45 R.P.M. scribe Dave Schultz with cameras now rolling in British Columbia, Canada. Sarah Lind (Wolfcop), Jakob Davies (If I Stay) and Hugh Dillon (Assault On Precinct 13) also star.
The year is 2030. Global warming has wreaked havoc in parts of the American Midwest. In its attempt to take hold of the economic recession, a government agency called The Humanity Bureau exiles members of society deemed unproductive and banishes them to a colony known as New Eden.
An ambitious and impartial caseworker Noah Kross (Cage) investigates a case appealed by a single mother (Lind) and her son (Davies). Knowing the unjust fate of the innocent boy, Kross sets off to save the lives of the mother and child and to expose the truth about The Humanity Bureau’s secrets once and for all.
Interestingly enough, the news also comes with a distinct nod regarding current events surrouding recent politics - an aspect which does indeed lend the film some backing given the narrative with respect to climate change and the factual basis surrounding the topic. Kevin Dewalt, CEO of Minds Eye Entertainment and Andre Relis, president of VMI Worldwide made the announcement with their following statements quoted as so:
“We’re extremely excited to work with the incomparable Nicolas Cage on this project,” said Dewalt. “We’re certain that THE HUMANITY BUREAU will be a hit with his legions of followers.”
“We’re excited to be working with Nicolas Cage on this incredible film, and we feel that the subject matter, given the current state of the world following the 2016 U.S. election, is very relevant on a global scale,” said Relis.
The film is the second to arrive following the recent completion of Mauro Borelli's most recent AFM 2016 find, the upcoming sci-fi actioner, The Recall starring Wesley Snipes and primed for a release which will also accomodate theater chain, Barco Escape's panoramic, immersive theatrical experience.
