Life After 'Deadpool' Brings Tim Miller To Sony's SONIC THE HEDGEHOG; Jeff Fowler Directing

Time and preparation surely met with opportunity for VFX wiz and prolific Deadpool director Tim Miller in the last several days. Having departed the coveted, daunting position of directing one of the biggest and most antipated upcoming sequels, Miller has already moved onto a few other endeavors being reported since then.

Sega game property, Sonic The Hedgehog, which announced feature-film in development two years ago through Sony and Sega Sammy Holdings subsidiary, Marza Animation Planet, is one of them. Jeff Fowler will direct the movie, aiming as a live-action CG hybrid to with Miller executive producing along with Toby Ascher. Marza's Ito Takeshi and Onishi Mie will serve as producers next to Neal H. Moritz (The Fast and The Furious franchise).

per The Wrap:
“Jeff is an incredible director with strong story instincts,” Miller said in a statement. “The world of Sonic presents the perfect opportunity for Jeff to leverage his experience in animation to bring new dimension to this iconic character.”
“Tim and Jeff are incredibly talented filmmakers and I’m thrilled to partner with them to help bring their exciting vision for Sonic to life,” Moritz said in the statement.

Hailing from Miller's award-winning VFX design and animation company, Blur Studios, the film marks a reunion of sorts for both Miller and Fowler following their most recent long-winded developmental efforts to adapt Eric Powell’s Dark Horse Comics series The Goon since 2008, with crowdfunding attempted back in 2012. Miller's latest directorial prospects now lie at 20th Century Fox for the 2014 novel adaptation of Daniel Suarez's sci-fi print, Influx with Mark Bomback scripting. As for who is directing Deadpool 2 after last week's falling out apart from reported conversations with David Leitch (John Wick), it's anyone's guess at this point until it's official. But...YAY Sonic movie!?
