Selene Returns To Battle In The First Legacy Trailer For UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS

There's no question on my end that the overall screen caliber of actress Kate Beckinsale is something distinctively worth appreciating. The Kevin Grevioux-inspired Underworld franchise has been an enduring one with four movies in, and with our leading making it work every step of the way (sans Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans) as a grand fantasy horror epic with stylish action, slick costuming and a brooding atmosphere to fit the bill.

Here and now though, we take to the latest treatment of the franchise for a fifth outing with Underworld: Blood Wars, which opens on January 6, 2017 from Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment. Anna Foerster makes her directotial debut following her work on Starz series, Outlander, in addition to the 2004 disaster flick, The Day After Tomorrow and 2013 hostage actioner White House Down, thus, transcribing some of her experience to the big screen by way Grevioux's vision. And from the looks of things, I'm pretty sold.

The next installment in the blockbuster franchise, UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.
Also starring are Lara Pulver, Tobias Menzies, Bradley James and James Faulkner with a script by Cory Goodman and Jayson Rothwell. Sony Pictures has released the first trailer highlighting the franchise with dazzling new footage, and you can now view it below.
