Jackie Chan Actioner, BLEEDING STEEL Gets Its Cast

Renny Harlin's latest, Skiptrace, is off to a good start this past weekend at the box office overseas, which is good news for its lead actor, action star Jackie Chan who is currently scheduled for an In Conversation event at the Syndey Opera House where he will discuss his career in a little over a week. In the meantime, production rolls onward for Chan's new venture in the area, Bleeding Steel, from sophomore director and writer Leo Zhang as of earlier this month and casting news is finally making the rounds.

The film, from Village Roadshow Pictures Asia and Heyi Pictures, sees Chan in the role of a special forces agent fighting to protect an important witness to a major case as the two find themselves tangled in a conspiracy. Chan is producing the film from a script by Zhang, and a cast that includes Mermaid co-star Show Luo, Nana Ouyang from To The Fore, and newcomer Erica Xia-Hou, with Australian locals, Alien: Covenant co-star, actress Tess Haubrich, actor Callan Mulvey from Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice, and Vietnamese Australian rising martial arts star, Maria Tran (award-winning shortfilm Hit Girls, Cuong Ngo's Tracer) - the latter being several of 40 local actors for the production's New South Wales leg of filming.

“Securing Bleeding Steel is a great win for NSW and the highly skilled jobs demanded by the screen industry will create hundreds of new opportunities for those young people who’ve undergone training for our creative industries,” [says Minister for Skills John Barilaro].
“Locally trained stuntwoman Maria Tran from western Sydney will now have an opportunity to realise her dream of working alongside lifetime idol Jackie Chan and his stunt team.”

via Deadline:
Noting the start of principle photography, Heyi Pictures president Kailuo Liu said, “We are confident that with Heyi Pictures’ powerful internet resources in the Chinese film industry and Jackie’s international influence, coupled with our first-class production team and an extraordinary sci-fi story, that we will be able to create a remarkable film for audiences all around the world.”
Other filming locations will include Taipei and Beijing before wrapping. Stay tuned!
