80's Sci-Fi Spinoff PHOENIX RISING Flies High With New Artwork And A Trailer

It was last October when news broke of the new series, Phoenix Rising, aimed at spinning off the classic televsion show, Captain Power And The Soldiers Of The Future. Gary Goddard, who co-created the original show which lasted one season before abruptly cancelling after one season despite its popularity and marketing, had been after this process since 2012 and now it appears the show is, in fact, in full, active development.

Deadline reports that Goddard, through his own Goddard Film Group banner is moving the show forward with folks over at the newly-formed Planet X Productions. Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens (Star Trek: Entertprise, Primeval: New World) wrote the pilot for the series with Goddard Film Group's own Roger Lay Jr. and Eric Carnagey executive producing, and MastersFX remaining on board to design the visuals for the new show.

via Deadline:
Phoenix Rising picks up 15 years after humanity has lost a devastating war against an artificial intelligence called Overmind. Jonathan Power, the son of the man who caused that war, learns the truth about his father and discovers a new type of battle armor that will enable a small, mismatched team of soldiers and civilians to fight the Bionic armies of the New Order.
Actor Tim Dunigan who led the original series in the title role will be cast as a new character as the show moves forward. In the meantime, the show is making its presence known at Comic Con International: San Diego this week, as well as online with artwork and a new concept trailer you can view below!
