Opinion (NSFW): GHOSTBUSTERS Gets A New Trailer, Fans Get Stupid. This Needs To Stop.

Indeed and without fail, there are a few films that have definitively been the most divisive this year among film fans. I won't go into detail about one of them and will likely save that update for another time, but the most relevant one coincides with this week's official second trailer debut of Paul Feig's Ghostbusters which opens on July 15.

Personally, I don't think it's been a wasted effort to reboot Ghostbusters at all, although that is not to say there aren't things worth critiquing about what we've seen in the trailers. That said, the distraction that is the entropy the dialogue has fallen into has been a success, and now people are taking turns on Twitter at Patton Oswalt over the death of his wife. This is not cool, and further induces a notion about how some people may feel regarding the immersive online fan experience of films these days. The late Michelle McNamara doesn't deserve to be anyone's cannon fodder over this, and nor does Mr. Oswalt and for those of you stooping that low, shame on all of you.

At the end of the day, it's a film. It didn't end your life, it didn't kill your dog, and it didn't fuck your drunk mom or dad last night. So ALL of us need to chill out, grow a pair, and not be so eager to diverge off course and become keyboard warriors when something doesn't go our way on the internet when it comes to movies. The film comes out in less than two months, and sure, there are plenty of reviews that will be quoted online to determine if this will be worth the $15 to $20 bucks some of us are willing to pay for a ticket. Until then, we all just need to find a better way to express ourselves when it comes to films and things we disagree with.

The internet can be a very discouraging medium sometimes when something catches our eye that doesn't well with us, but that doesn't mean we have to be total dicks about it. The new trailer is below, so check it out and by all means, leave Patton Oswalt the fuck alone. Nobody deserves that shit, and that's not what this conversation is supposed to be about. Feel me?

  1. Sorry, but Patton Oswalt decide to attack James Rolfe, for his video where he explain, he isnt going to see the movie and for the same is not going to review it.
Then Oswalt insult him, so did his friends, other celebrities and the media witch hunted James.
He doesnt deserve this, but neither did James, Oswalt is getting shit, because he decided to attack a nice person, with good arguments of why he isnt going to review the movie.
They witch hunted James and now people its witch hunting them, they dont deserve this either, but they did acted in bad faith.

Watch the video, then see the reaction from Oswalt, his friends and the press.
