Netflix Series ALTERED CARBON Sets Joel Kinnaman To Star

Actor Joel Kinnaman's next move as of Thursday will be back to Netflix following the four season run of The Killing. Various trade sites are now confirming the actor's attachment to Skydance's series adaptation of Richard Morgan's 2002 novel, Altered Carbon, for which Miguel Sapochnik will direct for ten episodes.

Laeta Kalogridis, who reportedly wrote a script treatment based on the novel, will provide the script which takes place in the 25th century with a story that attributes to tropes such as digitizing the mind and the transference of souls from one body to another. In this cyberpunk millieu, Kinnaman in the role of Takeshi Kovas - a former elite interstellar warrior known as an Envoy imprisoned for 500 years and is trapped in future he tried to avoid, and must solve a seemingly impossible murder to set himself free.

Kalogridis, serving as showrunner, will executive produce with Skydance's David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross, aa will Kalogridis' Mythology cohorts Brad Fischer and James Vanderbilt.
