Steven Seagal War Thriller, SNIPER: SPECIAL OPS, Lands A Trailer

Director Fred Olen Ray's career of well over 100 films is a litany of DTV action, horror and other genre titles now brings us his newest, Sniper: Special Ops. Actor Steven Seagal, seen in recent years taking to his business interests in Russia, is back on set here in the role of soldier on a mission that, surely enough, goes belly up.

SYNOPSIS:
A Special Ops military Force, led by expert sniper Sergeant Jake Chandler (Steven Seagal), are sent to a remote Afghan village to extract an American congressman being held by the Taliban. The rescue mission is a success, but Jake, separated after a firefight with the enemy, stays behind to help an injured soldier. Sergeant Vic Mosby (Tim Abell) desperately tries to convince Major Jackson (Dale Dye) to let him go back and save the soldiers, but is ordered on a mission to retrieve a truckload of munitions which could be vital for the military base. In direct violation of orders, Vic and his Special Ops Team decide to head back to the village to rescue the stranded soldiers. Outnumbered and outgunned, Vic and his men engage in a massive shootout against the enemy, while Jake uses his expert skills to save them all from certain death.
I haven't cared much about Seagal's film work in recent years, but I reckon the talent on hand would be worth paying attention to, a lesson I learned while watching Bren Foster shine in Force Of Execution. For Sniper: Special Ops however, we'll see how this goes. I've been dissuaded before but I'm willing to give it a shot.

Seagal is joined by Rob Van Dam, Tim Abell, Dale Dye, Charlene Amoia, Jason-Shane Scott and Daniel Booko. The film doesn't have a release date while the actor has an inumerable amount of others in tow. Interested? Keep your eyes out for more info.

Watch the trailer. (h/t: The Action Elite)
