Disney Cancels TRON 3. Is TOMORROWLAND To Blame?

So... that happened.

Dolph Lundgren Thriller SHARK LAKE Gets Its Grub On With A New Trailer

Not suggesting that action star Dolph Lundgren ever left, but the name is back in the headlines again with Screenmedia's latest circulation of the new extended trailer for debut director Jerry Dugan's creature feature, Shark Lake following its AFM announcement late last year. Kickboxer: Vengeance co-star, actress Sara Malakul Lane takes the lead here from a script by David Anderson and Gabe Burnstein, and with a release tentative for this summer, it's also funny that the trailer comes on the heels of a reported theatrical re-release of the classic thriller, Jaws on the cusp of its 40th anniversary. Interesting.

A Chance For Happiness Runs Thin In The New Martial Arts Drama, BLOODY DESTINY. Watch The Teaser And Trailer!

Tournament martial arts dramas always lend a good bit of lip service to the genre for fans. Keep this in mind with less than a month before director Zang Xichuan's latest mainland feature, Bloody Destiny, provides another step forward for the locals and the niche abroad.

It's A Tale Of Heroes And Villains Big And Small In The New MONSTER HUNT Teaser!

Considering China's continuing efforts in sharpening its visionary methods for 3D fantasy filmmaking, debut director Raman Hui's newest offering couldn't come at a better time. His new film, Monster Hunt, which he also wrote with Alan Yuen, is based on an 18th century short story compilation, serves up quite the for someone like Hui to deliver the same caliber of family-oriented action adventure spectacle seen aplenty in his previous work as supervising animator and lead character designer for films such as Dreamworks’ Antz, Shrek and Shrek 2, and as co-director for Shrek The Third, to name a few.

Well, six years after playing him in X-Men: Orgins, eight months after confirming his role and just three months since principal photography began, actor Ryan Renyolds has annouced completion of director Tim Miller's forthcoming adaptation of Marvel superhero, Deadpool. Renyolds himself has largely been the sole occupant of tweets before and during production with any number of set pics and updates interacting with fans on Twitter, with particular interest in at least two young fans who got to meet the actor on set through Make-A-Wish Foundation well over a week ago.

[UPDATED] The Listings Are Now Available For Marko Zaror's REDEEMER!

If your fandom has at all kept you on high alert for action star Marko Zaror's fourth bow with director Ernesto Diaz Espinoza in their newest revenge action thriller, Redeemer, don't fret. Hopefully you've caught our latest interview with Zaror where he discusses the film in addition to a number of morsels revolving around his career with more projects to come, and I, for one, can't wait to share more information on those.

Get High Off The New Red-Band Trailer For AMERICAN ULTRA!

Just shy of a year away from watching actor Jesse Eisenberg deliver his best Lex Luthor impression on the big screen, he's since returned in a less formal, ruggedly dressed and slightly more intoxicated role that still packs a wallop! American Ultra is coming to theaters this August with actress Kristen Stewart from director Nima Nourizadeh and writer Max Landis that takes what Seth Rogen and James Franco did for Pineapple Express and throws it in a 'Bourne' millieu full of government espionage, mystery and explosive thrills.

KUNG FURY Unleashes Its Fury Online Today!

Filmmaker and Kickstarter success story David Sandberg is likely having a really good year right now. Having started from almost nothing but an idea, a small crew, a nostaligic appreciation for the 1980's and love for things fantastic of the decade therin, his newest half-hour short, Kung Fury is about to kick its way online starting at 3:00pm EST/12:00 PST with a televised premiere on El Rey Network at 6:30pm EST/5:30pm CT.. And yes, this is all a pretty big deal too with a feature-length picture also in the works in the wake of the shortfilm's notable reception at the Directors' Fortnight at Cannes this month.

ANGRY PAINTER Is Angry. Watch The Trailer.

Award-winning filmmaker Jeon Kyu-Hwan isn't afraid to take his contemplative arthouse style approach (as previously lauded in his work on the Town trilogy) and turn it up a notch. His newest erotic action thriller, Angry Painter, puts us square in the main character's tragic universe - one filled with madness and darkness, with several shades of red...and some black and blue, too.

Mohamed Qissi Joins Argentinian Cop Sequel, MORTAL LAW (LEY MORTAL)

Aside from its film festival run overseas in the last few years Argentian 2013 revenge thriller, Justicia Propia currently remains a local success story for its lead action star Juan Manuel Olmedo while plans are evermore hopeful to release the film beyond borders next year. That said, it's been a while since any and all talk of a sequel began circulating, but that doesn't mean that nothing is happening. Because there will be plenty happening between August and September.

HOLLYWOOD ADVENTURES Lead To A Pig, A Rattlesnake, Bullets And High Speed Chases In The New Trailer

Anything for a girl, it seems...Such it is for actor Huang Xiaoming's latest role as a man searching for his true love in Timothy Kendall's directorial debut, Hollywood Adventures. But will it be worth it to have to dodge all those damn bullets, near-death car accidents, disco balls to the dick and rattlesnakes? Personally I'd rather keep my balls in one piece, thank you very much.

WHO AM I? Gets A 2015 Remake With Jackie Chan Producing And A Trailer!

Remakes... They're everywhere, and even in China where newly established film school dean, action legend Jackie Chan partook in producing one nearly seventeen years since the 1998 globetrotting espionage Chan-classic, Who Am I?. Producer and first time helmer Song Xi-Yin directs this latest revival with actor Ocean Wang now taking the lead in helping propel the next generation of action filmmakers and performers, and a cast featuring actreses Anna Yao and Zhang Lan-Xin, with fellow Chan cohorts Ken Lo and Yu Rong Guang also starring.

It's neither too early or late to remake a movie, especially for the folks over at Twentieth Century Fox who are now on the cusp of reviving more live-action superhero movie lore for millenials. For this, we turn to the 2003 installment of Blade helmer Stephen Norrington's The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which played a bit loose with the original source material and had some pretty gamey visual effects but still provided the necessary steampunk spectacle.

Get Liberated In The New Trailer For Ericson Core's POINT BREAK!

As it stands, out of any and all expectations there may be from director Ericson Core's upcoming Point Break remake, there are quite a few things I'm looking forward to here with regard to some of the iconic scenes from the 1991 film this one is based on, including the epic footchase chase, and the fight choreography by Can Aydin. Other than that, it's fair to hold remakes to a specific standard these days, as some fall shorter than others. The decisions to remake a film is of a touchy nature, especially when it comes to this one and the tone being introduced when it comes to the next level of dynamic action and stunts to incorporate the drama.

White's NEVER BACK DOWN 3 Adds Nathan Jones, Cinematographer Ross Clarkson

Fans of martial arts action star Michael Jai White can feel free to keep their antennae up a little longer as production awaits for his next directorial move with Never Back Down 3. White's attachment to the direct-to-DVD 2011 sequel in 2011 as its co-star and director has lended itself as one of the greatest additions to the genre's history as a movie geared toward mixed-martial arts fans by and large and with a third on the way, given all we've heard thusfar, we can more than likely expect something special out of this next line-up.

Jackie Chan's Movie And Media School Opens In Wuhan

Superhero Comedy JIAN BING MAN Gets A Trailer With Van Damme Fully Stretched And Ready!

Well it was only a matter of time before action star Jean-Claude Van Damme would reappear in another comedy. His acting has grown pleasantly stronger in recent years so it's still great to watch him get silly from time to time. And his latest, Jian Bing Man (a.k.a. Pancake Man), serves quite the delicious example.

CHASING SOULS: Catching Up With Actor, Martial Artist And Musician J. Cheung

Those of you who have been reading Film Combat Syndicate since the site launched twenty seven months ago may be familiar with one of my first interviews. Certainly it was one of my biggest assignments at the time and it helped stretch my brain muscles a bit while learning how to handle the specific HTML standards of working a blog, whilst diving me deep into the inner-workings of one of Asia's most inspired groups of up-and-comers to date, thr3guys, a group dedicated to performing and filmmaking martial arts choreography, as well as still-photography with founder, martial artist, hip-hop musician and up-and-coming actor, J. Cheung and others modeling in front of the camera.

PREDATOR: DARK AGES Is The Shortfilm You Want More Of!

Getting my day off to a bit of an abrupt start while blogging, director James Bushe's newest homage to epic sci-fi, Predator: Dark Ages didn't upload to its channel right away before could add it to this week's Hit List last night prior to clocking out. Anyway, it's finally online and comes just off the heels of its positive response by comic-con attendees in London just this weekend, and having screened and reviewed it for myself on Saturday, I'm long proud to know everyone will have been in for a real treat.

Hulk Hogan Talks Potentially Joining THE EXPENDABLES 4

A fourth installment of The Expendables franchise has had its fair share of on-again/off-again treatment since the third film released last August. However, knowing how passionate franchise star Sylvester Stallone is about his projects, it's fair to say that it isn't too late for another movie, especially since the previous one showed some strength at the global box-office.

My Two Cents: IRON MAN 3 (2013)

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Keeping up with superhero movies can be challenging, and without a doubt, writer and director Shane Black's Iron Man 3 is no exception. That said, I finally got to rent the film over the Memorial Day weekend and it was definitely a step up from the second film.

Cannes 2015: MACBETH's Alicia Vikander Tapped For ASSASSIN'S CREED And The Next 'BOURNE' Film

Actress Alicia Vikander is making waves at Cannes this weekend as her most recent film with actor Michael Fassbender, Justin Kurzel's adaptation of the Shakespeare classic, Macbeth is set to premiere. The Ex-Machina starlet is reportedly postioned for two major movies set to release next year - Kurzel's Assassin's Creed and actor Matt Damon's next Jason Bourne film with director Paul Greengrass.

TERMINATOR: GENISYS: TV Spot, Japanese Poster And More

I found some cool Japanese poster art for director Alan Taylor's Terminator Genisys via cinematoday on Friday, and there's no doubting that this film has already fired up a huge conversation about its validity with regard to the essence of the previous films.

Shortfilm Review: PREDATOR: DARK AGES

It's been almost a year since filmmaker James Bushe launched crowdfunding for his own inspired take on the hugely successful sci-fi property, Predator. The film franchise itself remains ever more popular with a reboot on the way and clearly the fandom is still there, specifically from Bushe who is now on the verge of finally unleashing a world of pain and death all his own with the new short, Predator: Dark Ages.

Magnet Announces Its Release Of Home Invasion Thriller, TIGER HOUSE

Director Thomas Daley's chilling new home invasion thriller, Tiger House isn't too far off from its U.K. release on August 24, but its debut in North America will be just a few months later in October with a date pending. Magnet Releasing is showcasing its latest trailer in the meantime, which is a similar to the first trailer shown last week, but otherwise worth sharing. It's a contained survival thriller with actress Kaya Scodelario as our underdog to cheer on against four menacing burglars led by Dougray Scott, in a millieu of uncertainty with an underlying mystery that may need solving before she dies.

THE LATIN DRAGON SPEAKS: An Interview With REDEEMER Star Marko Zaror!

It's been well over a decade since Chilean martial artist and stuntman Marko Zaror transitioned his career, thus landing in our sights with his debut role in the action-packed feature, Kiltro. Billed as the first South American film of its kind, it helped put Zaror and its director Ernesto Diaz Espinoza on the map toward greatness as the two forged a path through film that would ultimately see them become festival favorites by and large.

Nowadays, Zaror's fourth film with Espinoza, Redeemer, is on the cusp of releasing to North American audiences next month, and it's a real pleasure to still see films like this exist for the big screen, even as films like these are allocated to limited targeted metropolitan theater chains and VoD/digital platforms. Zaror and action stars like him don't get the mainstream treatment that Hollywood once gave to the genre in the 1990's when movie goers couldn't wait to see Jean-Claude Van Damme do a sick helicopter kick to someone's face, so I'm more than willing to throw my money in and support this movie when it comes.

As it stands, it's quite refreshing to add Zaror to the roster of people I can finally share my fandom with and learn from. He's done more than well for himself in becoming one of the biggest stars of the martial arts movie genre and he's grown a fanbase with an outpouring of support that still remains since his career took off while proudly bearing the nickname, "The Latin Dragon". In addition, he continues to accumulate a wealth of knowledge that further sheds light on the need for film industry growth on an international level for aspiring film workers in South America, which no less qualifies him as someone anyone on their way up should listen to, even as he, himself, never stops learning.

You learn things by talking to people, and it's an honor to have spoken with him in lieu of his latest success and continuing efforts in film and martial arts. With his current resume of hits, he's got plenty more coming as he so discusses in his newest interview with Film Combat Syndicate.

Film Combat Syndicate: Greetings Marko, and thank you for taking the time to talk about your career with Film Combat Syndicate. How is 2015 treating you so far?

It's been a few days since MGM's forthcoming Western reboot, The Magnificent Seven announced at least one more key role in the form of actor Peter Sarsgaard who will play the villain, via Variety. Since then it's also been stated that actor Jason Momoa dropped out after his name began circulating a few weeks ago, but casting has moved on with at least two more now in the mix.

Gabrielle Union Joins Jamie Foxx In SLEEPLESS NIGHT For Open Road

It's been a while since I've heard from actress Gabrielle Union. Immediately the first thing that comes to mind when I think of her is her role in Cradle 2 The Grave and Bad Boys 2 and I'm happy to still see her name make the rounds when it comes to the action genre. No kung fu stuff here though.

Don't drop the ball on international action star Marko Zaror. He's still keeping busy with several titles well on the way and it's a only matter of time before the news breaks on those matters. At the moment though, you're advised to pay close attention and witness the awesomeness now seen in the newest trailer for Zaror's 2014 film festival favorite, Redeemer, forging a path once more for the martial arts action genre to reign supreme on the big screen once again, and this time for more audiences.

Cannes 2015: C2M, SP International Join For Action Franchise Venture, HIGH SPEED

There's more news out of Cannes this week and while plenty of the announcements made have been amply exciting and refreshing, others haven't had as much of an impact, particulatly with regard to the niche exclusive to fighting games and the fandom in support of a certain Namco/Bandai property back in the running for a remake. Low and behold, however, this one involves an entirely seperate entity with updates pertaining to the new movie, High Speed.

The New Trailer For THE MAZE RUNNER: THE SCORCH TRIALS Burns Its Way Online!

Twentieth Century Fox officially got the ball rolling with its new push for the upcoming sequel release, The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials. It's the second in a series of YA sci-fi novels from author James Dashner with Wes Ball returning to direct following the success of The Maze Runner, and with a franchise so visually epic in scale, it's easy to see why fans would ultimately approve, and why this one will likely be proceeded by its third installation.

TIGER HOUSE Kicks The Door In With Its Latest Trailer

It must be no easy feat to be the only one left unaccounted for and having to take on four armed men in a cramped house where hiding is certainly no option. Such is the case for the latest role portrayed by actress Kaya Scodelario in Thomas Daley's new contained home invasion thriller, Tiger House, from a script by Simon Lewis that adds another suspenseful new venture into the genre with actors Dougray Scott and Ed Skrein lending their own cinematic villainy to the mix.

My Two Cents: MAD MAX: FURY ROAD (2015)

It's been a while since I've seen any of the previous Mad Max films leading up to Mad Max: Fury Road. However, that didn't stop me from catching the glory of director George Miller's return to the fray aside from this being my big screen introduction to the character, and needless to say, it's nothing short of the wonderous, gruesome, brutally fantastic cinematic treat that any number of reviews will tell you this month.
