[UPDATED] WB & Sony Currently Bidding For Rights To THE FOREVER WAR, Channing Tatum To Star

UPDATE: Looks like Warner Bros. gets it! (H/T: Deadline)

Being the fan that I am, my biggest concern is what lies ahead for actor Channing Tatum when he finally gets things rolling as Marvel mutant cardsharp and X-Men member, Remy LeBeau in a new Gambit film for Fox. Until then, there's plenty to talk about as the list of titles add up what with Sony moving forward with a batch of work as it continues its 21 Jumpstreet adventures with a possible Men In Black crossover.

Bruce Willis To Carry Max Adams's PRECIOUS CARGO

Actor Bruce Willis's career in action movies isn't ending anytime soon. Deadline reports his next film will be shooting in Biloxi, Mississippi titled Precious Cargo, the first in a ten-picture deal between Emmett/Furla/Oasis and Lionsgate which will be sold at Cannes through Highland Film Group.

Tom Hardy Dons Two Faces In The New Trailer For Crime Thriller, LEGEND!

Acclaimed screenwriter Brian Helgeland has had masses of success with his written and directorial work in some capacity on numerous films like Curtis Hanson's L.A. Confidential, the 2000 Mel Gibson crime comedy Payback and actor Chadwick Boseman's 2013 hit, 42 to name a few. Not resting on his laurels though, he's back with actor Tom Hardy in a new flick that takes us back to the roaring 50's and 60's when a pair of twins ruled the town, based on Helgeland's adaptation of author John Pearson's 1972  novel.

Watch The Trailer For Malay-Language Sports Dramedy, BANTING!

M. Raihan Halim's directorial debut, Banting, is finally getting its Malaysia premiere on May 7 after initially releasing to audiences in Singapore late last year. Judging by the trailers and the overall plot, you can definitely chalk this one up as another peeling-back of the layers on gender-based religious stereotypes that influences cultural growth and self-fulfillment, although Halim's offering here promises a few laughs to help sweeten the usual formulaic drama along the way.

James Wan Is In Talks To Direct ROBOTECH For Sony

It wasn't until February this year, eight years after sitting in limbo, that Warner Bros. decided to pick up the base on adapting the 1985 Harmony Gold USA/Tatsunuko Productions hybrid animated series, Robotech, for a live-action production via their Hollywood Gang banner. While the production has since switched hands over to Sony Pictures last month, a director was still being sought for with Mama helmer Andy Muschietti in talks at the time, but the prospects have only been greater as at least one director has shot his way to several commercial and critical milestones in the last four weeks, ultimately getting the studio's attention.

TO THE HASHI: What The Hell Was So Wrong With Man of Steel?!

So recently the Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice trailer was unleashed upon us, eagerly peaking out the Venetian blinds of pirated videos and then, grudgingly, released officially (in clear HD!) by Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. Everyone and their mother flocked to the internet, their critical eyes cast upon the screen. “What would Zack Snyder offer?” they wondered, many of them skeptical while others still awaited the reel with sober enthusiasm.

KINGSMAN Is On Its Way To A Sequel At Fox

Director Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman: The Secret Service had a phenomenal theatrical run overseas and here in the states. $400 million dollars at the box office sure says a lot as well, which is a one-up for folks in line for live-action comic book and graphic novel adaptations, and there's no question that comic-book creator Mark Millar is a happy man for that.

Catch The New Teaser And Poster For THE LAST WITCH HUNTER!

With all of the hype surrounding the Fast And Furious franchise amid its global success, it's easy to forget that actor Vin Diesel is, all for intents and purposes, an actor with his hands in other various properties. Such is the case with his latest role as an immortal witch hunter battling his way through New York City's demonic throes in the new thriller, The Last Witch Hunter.

Choi's ASSASSINATION Takes Aim With A New Teaser!

Woochi and The Thieves helmer, director Choi Dong-hoon's new period thriller, Assassination is finally getting a release this July with a date pending, and a cast that assures our dear director in good company of great talent. This, on top of a vision with a production that takes place in China as well as South Korea, and we can pretty much get an idea of the immense scope and qualtiy Choi has crafted together for audiences.

LA Coroner Confirms Darren Shahalvi's Death Was Not Drug Or Alcohol Related: Details Included

The pain and grief surrounding the sudden death of Ip Man 2 and Bloodmoon co-star action star and genre legend, actor, Darren Shahlavi, in January this year, still lingers for fans, and even moreso for close friends and relatives. Considering Shahlavi's undisputed health in a career resumé spanning well over twenty years, it was certainly a shock for the martial arts and film community as questions still remained how Shahlavi passed away in his Los Angeles home.

Watch Amy Johnston Chew Bubblegum And Kick-Ass In The New Style Teaser For RAZOR SHARP: RENEGADE

Director Marcus Perry's visually ambitious sci-fi action feature, Razor Sharp: Renegade is well on it's way to production, with action actress Amy Johnston (Lady Bloodfight, Captain America: The Winter Soldier) taking the lead. It's a project nearly ten years in the making with its newest iteration finally coming into fruition, and alas, a new style teaser is now out and about and testing the masses following Johnston's announcement last week.

Production On Pyun's THE KICKBOXER: CITY OF BLOOD Pushed Back Until The Fall

It's been a while since we last heard anything on director Albert Pyun's recent efforts pertaining to his upcoming franchise revival, The Kickboxer: City Of Blood. Last reported in January was addition of The Raid 2 co-star and actress Julie Estelle with returning lead, actor Sasha Mitchell for production to begin in Guangzhou, China with ACE Studios overseeing, although from the looks of things now, there appears to be a different story.

The New Trailer For MAD MAX: FURY ROAD Unleashes Its Final Fury!

Is it enough that several trailers are pillaging their way through the interwebs for the new death race roadkill adventure, Mad Max: Fury Road? Is it enough that franchise auteur and director George Miller has already won the hearts and minds of fans everywhere who've hung onto every spectacular piece footage to surface since last summer? Or is it enough that Miller and Warner Bros. are already looking toward three more movies in what could be a quadrilogy of epic proportions?

Sakaguchi Tak's Last Action Film, RE:BORN Wraps Principal Photography!

Well, as far as memories go, one certainly hopes that cult action star Sakaguchi Tak has made his time on the set of his final movie, Re:Born, worthwhile. Production kicked off for the film roughly two-and-a-half weeks ago with longtime friend and cohort, Shimomura Yuji directing and close-quarters combat expert Inagawa Yoshitaka coordinating, and thankfully, we've been graced with a fair bit of imagery via the film's official website and Facebook page.

STUNTS, FANDOM & ACTION: A Word With Jonathan Eusebio And Can Aydin

The first weekend of April this year was an excellent time for me. I got to meet up with a fellow movie friend to see Furious Seven on opening night, and what's more, I got to meet up with two of the most awesome people anyone could hang out with, and it's definitely another milestone I've set for myself as a film enthusiast.

Wang Baoqiang Is All Giggles In The New Teaser For MONK COMES DOWN THE MOUNTAIN

Actor Wang Baoqiang has proven himself greatly with his comedic acting and screenfighting prowess in several film appearances, most recently with the release of the Teddy Chen-direcred homage to the genre, Kung Fu Killer starring Donnie Yen. These days we can all now catch Baoqiang in any number of promotional bits in lieu of the latest piece of work from director Chen Kaige, Monk Comes Down The Mountain, a film made in large part to expand production company Columbia Pictures into partnerships abroad in this, its second Mainland China production following its co-production for acclaimed director and actor Jiang Wen's 2014 flick, Gone With The Bullets.

THE HIT LIST - April 27, 2015!

The past week was insane for me, as there have been tons of things I needed to get done whilst completing today's Hit List. Fortunately, I'm making headway here and managed to finish knocking this puppy out all in a day, on top of wrapping up a special project over the weekend as well.

Brian Tee To Star As 'The Shredder' In TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2!

Monday may have brought the laughs with actor Brian Tee staking his claim in a new Funny Or Die video made in part with Be Funny Studios. As of this week, however, he'll be bringing retribution as the iconic villiain, The Shredder in Earth To Echo helmer David Green's upcoming sequel installment, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2.

Michelle Yeoh Is Stranded In Nepal Following Deadly Earthquake

Fans of actress Michelle Yeoh are certainly looking forward to seeing her in action this August with action star Donnie Yen in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2: The Green Destiny, among other projects. For what it's worth, I sure look forward to it myself, and I certainly hope Yeoh will be able to make it to the premiere by then.

Bryan Singer Introduces The New 'Nightcrawler' For X-MEN: APOCALYPSE!

UPDATE: Looks like Singer decided to pull a fast one and remove Kodi Smit-McPhee's costume debut of Nightcrawler from his Instagram account. Luckily the folks over at CBM have the animation as well as a new picture. (H/T: Cameron)

There's no telling what the future will hold for the current production of director Bryan Singer's latest, X-Men: Apocalypse. However, the forthcoming battle will be the greatest game changer yet with actor Oscar Isaac in the role of title villain, and with a new war at hand, our heroes will need all the power they can get. No doubt that actor Kodi Smit-McPhee will be joining as the character Nightcrawler, in its second iteration following Tony award-winning actor Alan Cumming's role as the bright-eyed indigo-colored mutant teleporter in the 2003 film, X2. Alas, Singer has shared an Instagram video of Smit-McPhee in costume, which you can check out below.

Wu Jing Is Trapped In Purgatory In New Poster Art For SPL 2: A TIME FOR CONSEQUENCES!

Penance is, indeed, prevalent for the protagonist in director Soi Cheang's thematic sequel action thriller, SPL 2: A Time For Consequences. Chinese astrology is the trend here as per the 2005 predecessor SPL, now with returning actor Wu Jing in the apparent opposite of his previous role, now in the role of an undercover cop desperately seeking an out from his blown cover thanks in large part to his own corrupt department.

A Feature Film For Saman Kesh's 2013 Short, CONTROLLER, Is In The Works At Fox!

This is kickass.

BARELY LETHAL Takes Aim With A New Trailer And A Pair Of Release Dates

Now this looks like a teen romcom I can get used to. Actress Halee Steinfeld as a highly trained assassin looking for an out and finds her way into high school in search of a life she's been missing, only to see her past come back in a deadly way? Yes, despite the usual assortment of wit and adolescent camp you might normally find in any pubescent teen comedy, at least this one packs some heat.

Watch Amy Johnston's Teaser Announcement For RAZOR SHARP: RENEGADE

The last few years have taken off quite well for stuntwoman Amy Johnston who's managed to find her route in applying her craft toward becoming a formidable actress as well. A sample of her talents are presented in numerous online projects on top of her highly popular action demo from several years back shot at the formerly-titled White Lotus Kung Fu Academy in California, as her resumé expands further into stunts in leading roles as of late, notably the upcoming release of Chris Nahon's Lady Bloodsport and series premiere of R.L. Scott's Option Zero, and as of this week, the currently-developing sci-fi actioner, Razor Sharp: Renegade.

Shortfilm Review: BROKEN ANGELS (2014)

From L to R: Lian Toni Amado, Jeremy Sample and R Marcos Taylor in BROKEN ANGELS (2014)
Pure grit and controversy don't run short in director Tony Clomax's latest short film, Broken Angels. It's still getting film festival runs following its premiere late last year at the Urban Action Showcase and Expo, and I've since had the opportunity to screen it for myself this week. It's got it's flaws, but it does sing a few conceptual high notes.

Some More Wu V. Jaa In The New Trailer For For SPL 2: A TIME FOR CONSEQUENCES

It's clear that the biggest highlight of the upcoming release of director Soi Cheang's SPL 2: A Time For Consequences will be the cinematic match up between action stars Wu Jing and Tony Jaa. Much to our favor though, we now get to sample just a little bit more of the two going head-to-head in a brand new trailer following the first trailer last month; both take on similar tones, but this one has plenty of new footage between the action and drama that set it all up for the brutal finale to ensue. Plus, seeing Wu in a role completely opposite of what he played in the first film in 2005 opposite Donnie Yen will be a sure treat as well.

FURIOUS 8 Gets A Release Date. You Read That Correctly.

With events at this year's CinemaCon underway, it's been announced that Universal Pictures has officially planted a flag for Furious 8 on April 14, 2017. OPINION: Too Many Robins Spoil The Soup

What do Warner Bros., Sony, Disney, and Lionsgate have in common nowadays?

Robin Hood on the brain.

STAR WARS: REBEL ONE To Possibly Add Sam Clafin And Riz Ahmed

Star Wars fandom continues to take full effect even after the events in Anaheim, especially while there's plenty of time between now and this December's eventful release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. That film is expected to begin a new canon beyond the previous six films with several memorable character to join the fresh faces of the galaxy, but equally as important, other faces will be attached to this new universe as well.

Intergalactic Pandemonium In The New Trailer For Sci-Fi Space Epic, INFINI

Aussie director Shane Abbess was sure to find his way to better prospects in Hollywood following his directorial debut in the 2007 winning Andy Whitfield starrer, Gabriel. Of course, that was before he decided that much of the progress he'd hoped for in Hollywood wasn't going to come anytime soon due to market saturation and the unpopularity of original content and evidently moved back to Australia where he eventually found himself in greener pastures for his latest contribution to the sci-fi action genre, Infini, which surely looks to give longtime sci-fi fans something to celebrate.

WB, DC & Mattel To Deliver DC SUPER HERO GIRLS This Fall!

It took awhile for Warner Bros. to get on board with a Wonder Woman movie long after several failed attempts to rebrand the popular female-centric property on television reprising. And rest assured, even that effort a snag recently before recovering with a new director. All in all, it's understandable that one can be led to wonder if the studio cared at all about lending a female the spotlight in today's movie and television fandom.

Wagner Moura Adds To Fuqua's THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN

For all the bruhaha from some critics over director Neill Blomkamp's 2013 sci-fi epic, Elysium, at best, it was a film I ultimately enjoyed. It especially landed actor Wagner Moura on my radar while I haven't yet seen his previous films, Elite Squad and Elite Squad 2 - they're on my watchlist, so all things in good time.

My Two Cents: SPECIAL ID (2013)

Director Teddy Chen's Kung Fu Killer is getting a limited theatrical and digital release here in the U.S. starting this Friday. In light of this, I decided to rent action star Donnie Yen's 2013 cop thriller, Special ID, one in a thematic trilogy of stylish MMA-formated Hong Kong action movies following the hits he's had with director Wilson Yip on S.P.L. in 2005, and Flash Point several years later.

Besson And Hoene Head For WARRIOR'S GATE Next Month!

Within the last few years following Luc Besson's co-production partnering of EuropaCorp with Shanghai-based Fundemental Films for a slate of English-language films, its package also included a fantasy martial arts film titled Warrior's Gate. Scant info has been granted for the latter, but thankfully things are about to change as production finally begins next month in lieu of current events at this year's Beijing International Film Festival.

Season Two Of Marvel's DAREDEVIL Is Coming To Netflix!

I admit, Marvel's Daredevil is a show that I definitely have to catch up on, especially with A.K.A. Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist on the way. This show's getting a second season as per the latest announcent with Charlie Cox back to reprise his role as the title hero, no less. I might have an awesome weekend on my hands coming. Deets below!

Watch The Latest Trailer For MMA Fight Drama, STREET

The mixed-martial arts genre saw its theatrical prominence close to a decade ago with any number of films hitting mainstream and independent audience with much fervor. Since then, it's become pretty clear that the genre still remains in demand for its niche and director and producer Bradford May is answering that call with his latest MMA drama from Skinfly Entertainment, Street.

Valiant, Sony Rev Up HARBINGER WARS With Stahelski, Leitch To Direct And More!

Independent comic book platform Valiant Comics struck big with a nine-figure deal a month and a half ago when it partnered with Chinese investment firm, DMG Entertainment to help pitch its numerous comic book properties with a lean toward film production. What's as important as this, though, is how the source material gets tackled, which means who will be the team behind the forthcoming productions of such titles as Bloodshot and Harbinger.

THE HIT LIST - April 20, 2015

The past week has been a bit crazy for me, although I wasn't going to let it stop me from putting together this week's new Hit List article. Indeed it's shorter than usual as I'm sure I missed some gems that may be floating around out there, but there's always time to share those as well, at best.

The New Trailer For JURASSIC WORLD Shows You Its Teeth!

Dinosaur movie auteur Steven Spielberg left a stark legacy in the world of creature features when he directed the 1993 blockbuster hit, Jurassic Park. The film branched out to massive franchise popularity with books, theme park attractions and more with at least two sequels through 2001 which underperformed the first film but still did excellently for themselves, and now Spielberg, wearing his executive producer hat this time around, has helped bring his latest prehistoric revival with the fourth film, Jurassic World.

'Bullets' Trilogy Star/Director Jiang Wen To Helm Wuxia Finale, THE HIDDEN WARRIOR

Wuxia will be setting the stage once more for another actioner for actor and director Jiang Wen who recently celebrated his twenty-year career in filmmaking announcing his new film, The Hidden Warrior. The film will cap off its 1920's-set quasi-trilogy beset by the box-office success of its predecessors, Let The Bullets Fly (2010) and Gone With The Bullets (2014), the first which became China's highest grossing film at the time and spawned numerous awards and nominations.

'Doom' Arrives In The New Trailer For FANTASTIC FOUR

It's been a big, fan-heavy week between all things Star Wars and DC, so it was probably a better idea for Twentieth Century Fox to wait until Sunday to release a fresh new trailer for the upcoming Marvel franchise reboot, Fantastic Four. An alternative take on its two-film predecessor by director Tim Story, Josh Trank is at the helm for this one, and with a few teasers and stills having already granted fans a small look and despite some earlier criticisms, the reaction to this one is a lot better than expected. Of course, a merge with other franchise feels unlikely at this point unless we hear different soon enough, so this feels pretty good for now, as it certainly shows Trank's ability to take a pre-existing property like this to the next level.

Cannes 2015: Watch The New Trailer For Mike Moeller Starrer, ONE MILLION K(L)ICKS!

Alexander Padrutt's directorial debut, One Million K(L)icks, is certainly one with a setup seen before in previous films, but still presents another delightful experiment in genuine martial arts and drama filmmaking with an actor capable of presenting the gravitas on both ends. Lead actor and action star Mike Moeller is no stranger to this as be continues his rise in the genre with his latest role as talented fighter forced to come to grips with the underground fighting circuit and the crooks running it, as well as his own personal demons.

Iron Dragon TV And Well Go USA Are Screening BLADE OF KINGS Next Week!

At some point between the years on both ends of the new millenium, the Hong Kong action genre remained in its prominence with films led by young pop stars. One such title included the modern zany vampire action flick, The Twins Effect, themed around the popularity of Hong Kong singing duo Charlene Choi and Gillian Chung as they were leaving their mark on the big screen as actresses in a few action comedies of their own.

Oh Look! The Damn Teaser For BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Is Finally Here!

Well, it took a little handwringing thanks to an unceremonious leak, but Warner Bros. finally decided to release the first official trailer for the upcoming superhero showdown, Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice on March 25, 2016. No Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and no Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman - we just see our two heroes highlit in various shots throughout a grim monologue that delves into contemplative theology pertaining to superheroes as "false gods" and their purpose compared to that of mortals. Of course, for our dear Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne opposite returning actor Henry Cavill following the destructive events in Man Of Steel a few years ago, clearly it's a bit more personal. Clearly.
