Matt Hannon Returns In SAMURAI COP 2: DEADLY VENGEANCE. Watch The New Teaser!

It was at some point in the past few years that actor Matt Hannon, thought to have been dead more than two decades after his starring role in Amir Shervan's 1991 cult hack and slash flick, Samurai Cop, had to proclaim himself once again to the living. And it certainly lended some noteworthy achievement to the notion that there are people who would have wanted a sequel to the first film despite having been buried in history long before being brought back to life on restored DVD through Cinema Epoch.

ONCE UPON A TIME IN BERLIN: German Martial Arts Film Group, Reel Deal Action, Sets Their 2015 Feature Debut

At any other point in time before the new millennium, you may have been right in simply assuming that the martial arts action genre wouldn't have had much fervor with the internet. Of course, time proved quite the opposite with a vast number of independent groups sprouting online for a community that has evidently gone global. Germany, for one, has surely seen its share of that effect with its own native talents, namely folks like Can Aydin, Phong Giang and award-winning stunt performer Cha-Lee Yoon - just three of the principle stuntmen combining years of experience to form their own team, Reel Deal Action, as of just several years ago.

[UPDATED] Is Alain Moussi Joining Marvel/Netflix As IRON FIST?

UPDATE (1/28/15): It seems Moussi removed his Facebook post within the last several hours since the original article was published, and reposted a few more times later stating he was not in the running to play the character. We'll keep you posted.

In the wake of the current production of Kickboxer, you may have been wondering exactly what lies next for its debut lead actor, Alain Moussi. Well, we may already have an answer for that with the latest update now drawing some pretty tasty speculation relative to what is now happening for Marvel's currently brewing extension of their cinematic universe through Netflix, and if you're a kung fu fan, you definitely have reason to be excited.

MMA Action Drama, STREET, Is On The Way!

It'll be interesting to see how 2015 goes in the world of tournament thrillers. Post-production is underway for a new mixed martial arts drama now in the form of Street, which is hell of a title for an action flick of this kind. The film grants actor Beau Casper Smart his latest leading role, and considering a lot of his credits include dance features like Step Up 3D and Jon M. Chu's The LXD - The League Of Extraordinary Dancers webseries, it seems like something worth looking to for a role as athletic as this one.

Green Lantern? Ask me anything about movies other than this, because I know very little of the mythology behind the character off the top of my head. But, with the property now poised for a potential inclusion in Warner Bros.'s currently brewing DC movieverse between 2017 and 2020, actor and musician Tyrese Gibson is now fastracking his own campaign to claim the lead role.

Get A Look At Josh Trank's Rebooted FANT4STIC In The New Trailer

Well, in the weeks leading up to today's trailer for director Josh Trank's contribution to the Marvel movieverse rebooting Fantastic Four (or Fant4stic), plenty of blurbs and opinions have been tossed about online - some more cynical than most. But one thing is clear though: You have to admire the beauty in how material like this can be absorbed by someone with a different view of things, and right now, we're in an era where directors and studios are allowing themselves the advantage of taking films to generate different approaches. We see it all the time with the evolution of Batman and Superman on the big screen, and even our current topic at the moment which saw its first live-action approach back in an unofficially released Roger Corman production back in 1994.

Award-winning South Korean director Ahn Sang-Hoon's latest period flick certainly bares its share of turmoil and action, and maybe even a little skin to befit its working title, Empire Of Lust (a.k.a. Age Of Innocence), which is set for release this March in South Korea. Actor Shin Ha-Kyun returns to the screen after his most recent stint as the mastermind in Choi Ho's holiday action romp, The Big Match, now donning 14th century royal garb in a story centered on a Joseon-era commander who falls in love with a female courtesan and does her bidding.

Its continued successes on the big and small screen with two animated TV iterations from director Date Hayato, along with nine feature films and Kodada Akiko's forthcoming live-stage Spring musical in Japan certainly serve as good highlights, and as of last month, director Kobayashi Tsuneo has since added to the legacy with the tenth film titled The Last: Naruto The Movie, which will finally open its doors for select U.S. audiences on February 20, 2015., courtesy of Viz Media and Eleven Arts.

SGT. KABUKIMAN L.A.P.D.: SING, DANCE, KILL Bows With Bloody Vengeance In The Latest Teaser

Back in its heyday, independent film producers Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz certainly found their niche through a memorable array of cult horror and comedy classics over at Troma Entertainment. Falling short of its entry into the 2012 horror anthology, The ABC's Of Death, didnt prove to be an impediment at all for the folks over at Montreal-based film group, Road Kill Super Star. Well Go USA Releases THE PIRATES On DVD And Blu-Ray!

There's a reason why director Lee Seok-Hoon's 2014 action comedy, The Pirates, became one of the biggest and best selling theatrical blockbusters of South Korea last summer. Of course, that reason is left open to interpretation with its mixture of reviews, but the film is finally available on DVD and Blu-Ray wherever movies are sold, courtesy of our friends at Well Go USA.

KUNG FU PANDA 3 Gets Co-Production Status Amid Studio Layoffs And Reduced Slate

It hasn't been a good week at DreamWorks Animation with their stocks hitting a 52-week low on Thursday, ultimately leading to a huge number of layoffs. This also forced the company to reduce its feature film release plan to only two a year, including the long-awaited threequel to the largely China-produced Kung Fu Panda frachise.

MORTAL KOMBAT 3 Adds Jade Quon And Jamal Duff

Set photo from the set of "Mortal Kombat 3", H/T: MKOnline
Big things are happening for Blue Ribbon Content's current production of the third and new serial installation of Mortal Kombat. With filming already underway, some new casting information already hints at the very likelihood that the new season will deviate from the first two seasons which largely played out as origin stories leading up to a cliffhanger finish between characters Liu Kang and Kung Lao, portrayed respectively by actor Brian Tee and Mark Dacascos. This, on top of the fact that Dacascos is not returning and no word is being given regarding Tee's presence, makes things a bit been pretty frustrating, for fans all around, especially what with plans for a feature film now close to nil.

It seems these are trying times for the current preproduction of David Ayer's new anti-hero superflick, Suicide Squad as actor Jake Gyllenhaal has since declined to replace Tom Hardy for the role of Rick Flagg among the all-star cast. No need for worry though if boxing dramas are more your speed and you're eager to see the actor in something real soon, because his newest film, Southpaw is on the way, directed by Antoine Fuqua following stellar theatrical run with The Equalizer last September.

Cam's Eye Review: THE NOVEMBER MAN (2014)

When the past lures Peter Devereaux (Pierce Brosnan) out of retirement, the ex-CIA agent finds himself entangled in a political conspiracy involving high-ranking CIA officials and the Russian President-elect.
Tasked with protecting Alice Fournier (Olga Kurylenko), a woman whose secrets threaten the future of old alliances, professional circumstances pit Devereaux against his former protege, David Mason (Luke Bracey), a sniper with deadly aim.
Based on Bill Granger's political thriller, There Are No Spies, the seventh installment in The November Man series.

Here's what (ugh!) Wikipedia says about this action thriller: The November Man is a 2014 American spy action thriller film based on the novel "There Are No Spies" by Bill Granger, which is canonically the seventh installment in The November Man novel series, published in 1987. It stars Pierce Brosnan, Luke Bracey, and Olga Kurylenko with the screenplay written by Michael Finch and Karl Gajdusek. The film is directed by Roger Donaldson, who previously worked with Brosnan in Dante's Peak. Beau St. Clair once again teams up with Brosnan to co-produce the film.

"People are power. We collect people," states John Hanley (Bill Smitrovich, of The X-Files and Millenium TV series fame). And that is evident in this particular fare brought to us by producer Beau St. Clair (among others), and executive produced by Mr. Brosnan's production company, Irish Dreamtime (among other executive and assistant producers).

I have a problem with invulnerable heroes. And I prefer Batman to Superman. Let’s go ahead and get that out of the way.

Well, it's about that time. If there was ever a point you wanted to get away from life for a little while and want a good movie to help you do just that, director Joe Lynch has you covered with the long-awaited release of his newest action thriller, Everly. Playing the lead is sexy lead actress Salma Hayek whose roles in action films extend as far as films like Robert Rodriguez's Desperado and Once Upon A Time In Mexico, and to say the least, watching Hayek in action isn't something a lot of people would say no to, and based on some of the responses following the film's presentation at Fantastic Fest late last year, it's fair to say she's proved it.

Going into 2015, actor Sean Penn has seen some intense roles throughout his career, although it is safe to say that his latest in The Gunman will be one of his more stellar roles in recent years.

IN PRODUCTION: My Interview With Eric Jacobus

Not many of you, or perhaps generally none of you know this about me - it was around 2007 or 2008 that I started a blog not too different from this one, with the goal of getting in touch with the online action film community. It lasted in the course of a six month trial period at a site called Freehostia, initially with the intent of purchasing extra space for more articles and such, and it was during that time period when I had already gotten in touch with a few people through MySpace (yes, it was THAT long ago). Unfortunately, for lack of a better working computer that wouldn't crash and burn out, I never really got to add actor and stuntman Eric Jacobus to my list of contacts before then, and my free trial eventually expired. Essentially, it wasn't a good year and to simply say that the struggle got real would be an understatement.

Want A Bruceploitation Documentary? A Celebrity Stage Event? Nickolas Nielsen Is Making Either Of These Happen!

You can certainly imagine the challenges faced by studios more than forty years ago who were desperate to find the "next Bruce Lee"... literally. The search for lookalikes who could echo the famed martial arts action star's image became top priority for filmmakers and producers following the 32-year old actor's and Jeet Kune Do founder's untimely death in 1973, and it has spawned many films resulting in an era dubbled notably as "Bruceploitation".

Cam's Eye Review: THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 (2014)

It's great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there's no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

First off, when I normally review a film it's based on three things: entertainment value, how the story narrative flows, and how visual it looks overall. After viewing The Amazing Spider-Man 2 with this in mind, I'm left much like a Chinese meal I consume: after an hour I wanted more. And with this particular offering, I expected more. Not to say it has its pluses, but it has its minuses. Overall, my personal overall opinion is mixed at best.
