The New Poster For Jesse V. Johnnson's THE BEAUTIFUL ONES Spreads The Gospel!
Director Jesse V. Johnson is currently making the rounds at festivals with his most recent crime noir, The Beautiful Ones. The film just screened in Buffalo, NY with a slot available for this year's Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival at the Cinema Paradiso venue in Florida while UK-based Moviehouse Entertainment sustains international sales rights from now through next year.
Alas, with any luck, we'll be hearing back on some acquisitons and release dates soon. The film is a true love letter to a bygone era of film dating back to the 60's and 70's with a brilliant scope and vision led by stunt veteran and filmmaker Johnson and lead actor Ross McCall. I know this having had the honor of screening this dazzling film for myself among others this summer, and so it comes with the humbling honor of appearing on the new poster being unveiled this week (click for larger viewing and note the quote on the right hand side).
Word has it that actor Lin Gengxin is a possible front runner to lead famed Hong Kong director Tsui Hark's newly confirmed adaptation of classic literary, Return Of The Condor Heroes. The story is inspired by Jin Yong's 1959 publication, the second installation of the Condor Trilogy which began in 1957 and has seen numerous film and TV adaptations, as well as its expansion into books and video games.
Hark reportedly aims to adapt the book into a trilogy of its own while fans are expecting to hear of Lin's attachment as Yang Guo, whose taboo romance with his sifu, martial arts master Little Dragon Girl, and their adventures in the martial arts world is central to the story. Lin has worked with Hark on several occassions with credits together including Young Detective Dee: Rise Of the Sea Dragon (2013), The Taking of Tiger Mountain (2014), Derek Yee's Sword Master (2016) which Hark produced, and this year's sequel hit, Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back whi…
