Glu Announces Partnership With Jason Statham For SNIPER X: KILL CONFIRMED
I'm not much of a mobile gamer, much less a gamer at all. Nonetheless Glu's latest announcement from Tuesday sure garners some appeal for fans as enticing as it may be now that they're partnering with action hero Jason Statham. Sniper X: Kill Confirmed will be what lies ahead for anyone with a smartphone or a tablet, so I reckon a lot people will be glued to their phones much more when the game releases.
Glu Mobile Inc. (NASDAQ:GLUU), a leading global developer and publisher of free-to-play games for smartphone and tablet devices, today announced the company has partnered with world renowned action star Jason Statham on a new mobile game expected to be titled Sniper X: Kill Confirmed. Statham marks Glu’s first male celebrity partner, and will bring a new audience demographic to the company’s growing celebrity gaming portfolio.
“Jason Statham’s action persona and strong social following make him an ideal partner for Sniper X: Kill Confirmed. We look forward to launching this new title to a global audience of mobile action gaming fans, including Jason’s social audience of more than 54 million followers*,” said Niccolo de Masi, Glu Chairman and CEO. “I’m pleased to welcome Jason to Glu’s celebrity portfolio and believe this new partnership will cement Glu’s leadership in the Hollywood gaming space.”
Known for his explosive acting roles, Statham has starred in more than 40 blockbuster films including such global franchises as THE EXPENDABLES and THE FAST & THE FURIOUS, and most recently, SPY.
Currently slated for global release in fall 2015, Sniper X: Kill Confirmed will incorporate Statham’s name, likeness, and voice in the high-pressure, first-person shooter gameplay.
With the addition of Statham, Glu’s celebrity gaming platform is now supported by nearly 650 million** total social followers.
*Statham’s social audience as of August 3, 2015: 51.5 million on Facebook, and 2.5 million on Instagram.
**Based on the combined Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vevo, and Vine audiences of Katy Perry, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian West, Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears, and Statham as of August 3, 2015. There is some fan overlap among these social channels and celebrities.
