Charlie Human's APCOCALYPSE NOW NOW Gets The Big Screen Treatment

Plunging us back into the deep and whimsical world of the otherworldly is author Charlie Human whose 2013 debut novel, Apocalypse Now Now is being groomed for live-action adaptation according to Variety. The book has already recieved much praise with a likening between Neil Gaiman and Quentin Tarantino, and with source material as rich as this, it's easy to see why fans of the book and the author would be excited.

Check out the summary from Titan Books:
I LOVE THE SMELL OF PARALLEL DIMENSIONS IN THE MORNING
Baxter Zevcenko’s life is pretty sweet. As the 16-year-old kingpin of the Spider, his smut-peddling schoolyard syndicate, he’s making a name for himself as an up-and-coming entrepreneur.
Profits are on the rise, the other gangs are staying out of his business, and he’s going out with Esme, the girl of his dreams.
But when Esme gets kidnapped, and all the clues point towards strange forces at work, things start to get seriously weird. The only man drunk enough to help is a bearded, booze-soaked, supernatural bounty hunter that goes by the name of Jackson ‘Jackie’ Ronin.
Plunged into the increasingly bizarre landscape of Cape Town’s supernatural underworld, Baxter and Ronin team up to save Esme. On a journey that takes them through the realms of impossibility, they must face every conceivable nightmare to get her back, including the odd brush with the Apocalypse.
There's no telling if the book's 2015 sequel, Kill Baxter, will get the same treatment though I reckon the first film's success would help in that effort.

Oscar-nominated District 9 scribe, Chappie writer Terri Tatchell is reportedly on board to transition the script for the fantastic new thriller. Canada's Redlab Digital and South Africa's Be Phat Motel are producing the film with executive producer Todd Brown at L.A. based XYZ Films who are also representing the film globally.

I suppose a film like this would be right up Neil Blomkamp's alley but he's busy doing an ambitious new Alien continuance, so I wonder which director would be suited to adapt Human's universe to the big screen here. Comment below or yell at us on Facebook or Twitter!
