JAPAN CUTS 2014 Announces 27 Titles And Much More!

There's a great line-up awaiting those who will be able to attend this summer's events at the Japan Cuts 2014, now well on its way to an eighth year run in light of what's happening over at NYAFF. I've written about a few of these titles before and I personally look forward to catching some of them on my own time, including the festival's newest announcement, the Mo' Brothers Sundance 2014 favorite, Killers, starring lead actor Kazuki Kitamura who is also attending this year's festivities among a handful of other guests.

Toshiaki Karasawa Is On Fire In The New Teaser Trailer For IN THE HERO!

Director Masaharu Take's new film marks a milestone for lead actor Toshiaki Karasawa (20th Century Boys trilogy, Casshern) in a role that one might even say he was meant for. The new film, In The Hero, sees actor Karasawa as a seasoned suit actor and stunt club president forced to work on set with a young, cocky celebrity. Of course, there are more layers to this strikingly spectacular character study of differing generations of action stardom from scribe Keiya Mizuno, and while and while the sixteen-second teaser back in April didn't illustrate much, the brand new teaser trailer offers a lot more insight in that regard, with several key movie-within-a-movie moments in relation to the parallel drama taking place.

Hollywood Ninja Presents: MANILA ASSASSIN'S CREED

Jearome Calica strikes a pose in 'Manila Assassin's Creed'

THE BORDERLAND Debuts A Second Explosive Trailer!

You are forgiven if you've completely forgotten about writer and director Mathieu Weschler's latest international action thriller, The Borderland. A trailer debuted back in March of last year billing actor, stuntman and five-time former Karate champion Seydina Baldè (Unleashed a.k.a. Danny The Dog, Punisher: War Zone) in the role of Gabriel, a bounty hunter caught in the throes of North Korean captivity and forced to fight his way out after a rescue mission gone awry.

RAVAGER Needs Your Help!

If any of you are looking forward to a feature-length R-rated DC or Marvel comic book movie from Hollywood, that probably won't happen for a really, really long time. Hence, feast your eyes on the folks over at GoingNowhere who made headlines earlier this year with the hit shortfilm, Deathstroke: Arkham Assassin, an impressive and pleasingly violent shortfilm by filmmakers Larry and Chris White.

PREDATOR: DARK AGES Kicks Off Crowdfunding On Kickstarter

Hollywood director Shane Black may be on the way with a feature-length Predator sequel, but that isn't stopping a small group over in the U.K. from pushing forward with an independent take of their own with the new shortfilm project, Predator: Dark Ages. The official Facebook page for the project has since long been launched to help gather as much of a readership as possible, with concept art and posters, and a teaser unveiled not too long ago.

PACIFIC RIM 2 Gets A Target Release Date!

A sequel to last year's modest blockbuster success story, Pacific Rim, has been in development for a while now. It wasn't going to happen right away since earning only a little over half its budget back, but I suppose grossing that same number four times over globally was pretty helpful.

Stuntman, fight coordinator and choreographer Don Thai Theerathada has been at it professionally for the last twenty-one years, having recently completed work for the upcoming releases of the Leitch/Stahelski co-directorial debut, John Wick, the August 8 release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and this weekend's release of Transformers: Age Of Extinction. Some of his career highlights can now be seen in a newly cut reel on the official YouTube channel for California-based stunt training studio, 87Eleven, with several cool highlights of his work in recent years, including The Expendables 2 (2012), and alongside award-winning premiere stunt coordinator J.J. Perry for Bullet To The Head (2013) and Haywire (2012).

Actor Denzel Washington gets his day as the monastic avenger against criminal injustice when his new film, The Equalizer, releases in theaters on September 26. Brad Pitt Fights To The Bitter End In The New Trailer For FURY

After the upbeat response earned by E3 panel footage earlier this month, the first official trailer has arrived for Sabotage helmer David Ayer's epic war drama, Fury. Actor Brad Pitt leads the cast with story that centers on a war-torn, battle-fatigued tank squad in the firefight of their lives as they near the tail end of World War II. The center of much of the antipation, of course, centers on the gritty, explosive tank action that pits the odds against our principle cast with a desperate enemy, which should make for a lovely, plentiful set up for a Holiday blockbuster this November 14th in the U.S..

The Predator franchise is still a thing among fans worldwide since the eponymous alien tribal warrior and hunter launched its war on mankind and other living creatures between John McTiernan's 1987 jungle thriller with lead actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and the 2010 epic from director Nimród Antal, Predators. The film also landed two other spin-off movies before Antal's film which crossed between its own franchise and the Aliens universe, but Predators was the last known project that was confirmed for a sequel upon its release that same month in July.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES Unshells Four New Character Posters And Trailer

Aside from anything revelant to the etymology of the character from the original comics by creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, director Jonathan Liebesman's forthcoming iteration of the classic villain in his new film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, will center on actor William Fichtner's portrayal of Eric Sachs, a doctor who apparently worked with reporter April O'Neil's father to, as he puts it, "create heroes". Evidently at some point, every hero needs a villain, and somehow Sachs becomes the monstrous incarnation we now see in the new photo above, and in addition to a brand new trailer and character posters as of this week.

It's been about a decade since we got our first computer here, and for me, it marked an adventurous beginning for me on the internet as an action fan. MySpace was popular, Netscape and AOL/AIM were cool, and most importantly, my random searches for all things kung fu and film related ultimately led me to the world of indie action, and it was simply a matter of time before I would come across the official website for The Stunt People and their hit shortfilm, Undercut, directed by independent filmmaker Stephen Reedy.

Franchise actor Sylvester Stallone successfully reinvigorated the character back in 2008 film, Rambo, twenty years after three feature-length installations were made, ultimately putting the actor on the map for blockbuster action stardom. As of 2009, with a TV-show previously reported to be in development with Stallone also potentially starring, producers at Nu Image/Millennium Films had already greenlit the film, especially since Stallone already owns the rights to the 1999 novel, Hunter, from which the film was once thought to be based on. With this, the official synopsis now deviates from the novel for the film, tentatively titled Rambo V, and reads as follows, courtesy of the film's new rights holders, Germany-based Splendid Film:

Jason Momoa Could Be Playing AQUAMAN In BATMAN V. SUPERMAN...Just Sayin.

There are a lot of rumors that continue to swarm the internet, especially when it comes to movies. ENSO Productions Presents: CRUEL WORLD

It's been a while since we've last heard from the official YouTube channel for ENSO Productions as their members have likely been busy growing their respective careers, including independent filmmaker, industry stuntman and fight choreographer Walter Garcia whose work has been written about quite a few times on my site, as well as a handful of others in the last several years. He's one of the most prolific action designers I know of and his online resume of shortfilms are proof of just how good he is behind the camera, as well as in front of it.

One day, all Devin White wanted to do was take some selfies and post them online. Leave it to photo creeper Tony Sre to ruin all the fun. And exactly how did he get in that last shot?

A BETTER TOMORROW Gets The 4K Treatment

Internationally acclaimed filmmaker John Woo is quite expressive nowadays regarding his hopes of reinvigorating his old partnership with fellow film legend Tsui Hark, years after lighting the Hong Kong action genre for the world to see with the 1986 smash hit, A Better Tomorrow. Two more films within that franchise followed apart as the two parted ways years later (with the Korean remake of the first film arriving in 2010), and with Woo wanting to build that bridge, it would certainly revive the glory days for fans longing to see another masterpiece from the famous duo.

The film took a while to come through as producers were forced to dissociate the new film from the first movie with said title upon settling all legal differences in court with MGM, who own the rights to first refusal for a sequel, after the studio filed a detailed lawsuit nearly two years ago to stop the film from happening under its previous title, Raging Bull 2.

Indie Fan Short, MORTAL KOMBAT: THE ONE Relauches Indiegogo

Mortal Kombat is still a thing these days, with a brand new game on the way, in addition to current preparations being made for a third season to the Kevin Tancharoen-directed webseries with an official announcement pending, and feature film that's been a huge question mark since 2011.
