'Episode VII' Officially Wraps As STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS

With a new multimedia campaign now underway for its expanded universe, in addition to the development of several spin-offs for the Star Wars franchise, director J.J. Abrams recently wrapped production on the forthcoming installment of the theatrical titular saga. In turn, while the film's working title has been Star Wars: Episode 7 for the past few years now, the announcement has granted fans a new look at the official title indicated by the tweet below.
Production did see a few rough areas, mostly dealing with co-star and returning franchise actor Harrison Ford's on-set injury over the summer. Luckily, filming resumed the following month, and while specific details on the script and plot remain somewhat a mystery far and wide, the film has already turned out some natural excitement among fans speculating who might play who among the new faces.
Continuing the Star Wars saga where Return of the Jedi left off, Luke Skywalker aims to restore the Jedi Order while Leia and Han Solo work with the New Republic against the remnants of the Galactic Empire and a new potential threat.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens will feature Ford and other original stars of the previous films, including actress Carrie Fisher, actors Mark Hamill, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker and Anthony Daniels. Newcomers include actresses Lupita Nyong'o, Daisy Ridley and Gwendoline Christie, and actors Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Max von Sydow, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac. The film is written by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams who is also producing with Kathleen Kennedy and Bryan Burk, while composer John Williams scores the soundtrack.

The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015, with Looper helmer Rian Johnson directing the next in line, tentatively titled Episode VIII for a 2017 release, and a ninth installment with a director to be announced for presumable 2019 release, all courtesy of Disney.

Stay tuned for more info.
