A New Terminator Trilogy Is In The Works, Schwarzenegger To Return

I personally never thought that the Terminator franchise would get a reboot, particularly considering how epic the orginally story was from the beginning. I guess I shouldn't be surprised though, considering that we are in an age of remakes and reboots. And now that the very franchise that helped boost director James Cameron's career back in 1984 is back in the headlines with a new press release courtesy of Paramount Pictures, I wouldn't be surprised if Avatar gets rebooted.
Not to sound cynical or anything, particularly since I support good movies in general, whether they are reboots or not. However, it is a bit awkward that we never really see the end of the war between John Connor and the Human Resistance, and the Terminators hell bent on eliminating all humanity, especially after the events in Terminator: Salvation, which I enjoyed (I sort of thought it was a reboot already).

Oh well, if there is potential here to revitalize the fanbase and reintroduce the now 30-yea…

The news comes just less than a month after Matti's film successfully caught the attention of North American movie distributor, Well Go USA.

Erik Matti's film, co-written by Michiko Yamamoto, stars Gerald Anderson, Joel Torre, Piolo Pascual, and Joey Marquez, based on real-life events involving recent stories of political corruption, with politicians tied to mobsters, and organized hits using day-release prisoners as assassins. [UPDATED] Behind The Scenes Footage & Photos From The Set Of TRACERS

A new film is currently in production for spanish director Daniel Benmayor's action thriller, Tracers. The Hollywood Reporter initially spoke of the film back in mid-May 2012, regarding the film's representation by FilmNation Entertainment at the Cannes Film Festival.

Tracers is being shot on location in New York City starring Taylor Lautner as a bike messenger indebted to the mafia, whose chance meeting with a sexy stranger leads him into her world, and the thrill of underground freerunning culture.

In my opinion, this is a very good opportunity for Lautner to continue evolving as a potential action hero, seeing as how he is also a martial artist. Aside from the 2011 film, Abduction, and the Twilight movies, a much younger Lautner displayed impressive screenfighting skills as an early-stage genetically enhanced killer in the film, Shadow Fury, directed by Alpha stunts co-founder and action choreographer, Tatsuro Koike.

In an interview with MTV last year as the film had just…

Eric And Irvin Nguyen Take Viewers On THE FIGHTING JOURNEY

Independent filmmaking and Lunar Stunts action duo Eric Nguyen and brother Irvin Nguyen have introduced a new martial arts miniseries called The Fighting Journey. Their first clip shows the two featuring some more of their experimental choreography, as part of a project that will help expand their screenfighting with other performers.

Eric explains his motivation a little further, saying "I made a lot of test fights, so I asked myself 'What if I start making fight sketches, into, like, a series?' Irvin agreed with my idea. This way, especially at this moment, I can really show my ability to choreograph fight scenes. For 'The Fighting Journey', I can incorporate different fighters from different stunt teams. The challenge, however, is to keep my audience interested and I'm willing to take on the challenge!".

The folks over at Lunar Stunts are also keeping busy with their own acting and filmmaking endeavors, currently working on an upcoming project with f…

Cody Hackman Seeks Revenge In The New Teaser For TAPPED

A disgruntled teenager, sent to do community service at a rundown Karate school, enters an MMA tournament to face the man that killed his parents.

It looks like the mixed martial arts film genre isn't going away anytime soon. This week shows Canada native, 5-time karate champion martial artist and actor Cody Hackman in the lead for the upcoming film, Tapped, from director Allan Ungar. The hype surrounding the film mainly stems from the apparances of familiar MMA favorites such as Krzysztof Soszynski, Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida and action movie familiars like Martin Kove and Michael Biehn.

One other thing credible here about the film's lead, Hackman, is that he already has several screen credits to his name, which promises something to look forward to for film goers looking forward to seeing actors who know how to fight on screen. In any case, fans of films like Here Comes The Boom, Never Back Down 1 and 2 and the upcoming Nick Cheung headliner, Unbeatable, can very well loo…

Armed with lethal martial arts ability, Talbot steps in to assist Harding in completing the mission. Actor Scott Adkins is one of the most major milestone figures in action cinema history. I first discovered him in an an action scene for the television show Mutant X, though he was mostly an unknown at the time.

Eventually his career would lead him to future roles in TV and film spanning from the U.K. to H.K., including films like Extreme Challenge and Black Mask 2: City Of Masks. Brand New Footage Featured In The New Promo For THE WRATH OF VAJRA

The period 3D martial arts action fantasy thriller, The Wrath Of Vajra, is back making headlines, and from the looks of the latest new English-subbed promotional spot, it's easy to see why. No question either as to its success back in May when it sold to Well Go USA for North American distribution. That said, all we need are some release dates to give us an idea about when the rest of the world can look at this awesome new movie, featuring actor and martial arts action star Shi Yanneng in his first lead role.

The film also reunites our lead with Japanese actor Hiroyuki Ikeuchi since their appearance together in Donnie Yen's theatrical representation of the pre-Bruce Lee story of Wing Chun master, Ip Man. Iceman 3D director Law Wing Cheong helmed the film, produced by Hong Pang with a…

Syndicate Shoutout: ESKINDIR TESFAY

If you are an action fan and you have been around for the last three decades or so, then you have pretty much seen a change in how martial arts cinema has been observed over the years. Indeed, the past decade or so has been good to the world of independent filmmaking, an exemplary point to make with recognition to actor and martial arts performer, Eskindir Tesfay.

Tesfay was born in the multi-ethnic nation of Eritrea and grew up in Germany, ultimately developing an interest in Asian culture that drove his aspirations to dabble in the world of Hong Kong action cinema. In 1999, he traveled to Taiwan to learn martial arts and Asian culture, ultimately the language and earning a the start of a resume beginning in TV commercials and modeling. And by 2010, he was a seasoned stuntman, performer and martial arts professional, eventually founding his own production team, Movie-Do, after which he began stepping foot into other aspects of the filmmaking process.
Symbolically, Tesfay founded Mo…

Tiger Chen Hu Becomes KUNG FU MAN This July

It sounds pretty generic for a martial arts film title. But for a film about a kidnapped young boy who personifies his rescuer as an asian Clark Kent, what better title could there have been for the world's next rising martial arts action hero Tiger Chen Hu in his next action vehicle to date, Kung Fu Man?

I'm pretty sure not a lot of people saw this film coming, so when Man Of Tai Chi comes out in China on July 5, 2013, martial arts fans will be surely pleased by the time July 19 arrives for Kung Fu Man hits theaters.

The film is directed by Ning Ying and legendary action director Yuen Cheung Yan. It also stars Jiang Mengjie, Vanessa Blanche and Lin Shen, and is based on a screenplay inspired by the writer's son. Man Of Tai Chi director and co-star Keanu Reeves also served as executive producer.

Jean-Claude Van Damme Set To Take On Rich Criminals In LUXURY MEETS JUSTICE

The last person I think anyone would expect to step into the field of action cinema would be Michel Adam, founder and sole owner of the 24-hour glamour and beauty-oriented lifestyle network, Fashion TV. Apparently, action is where it is at this stage of his career in having announced a new $40 million dollar project this month with revived Hollywood action star Jean-Claude Van Damme for a new film series called Luxury Meets Justice.

The South China Morning Post covered the story a few days ago as Van Damme is currently in Hong Kong scouting for new talent. He said, "We want to help young talents who are ready to explode in China, Chinese national treasures in a sense,". He also expressed his sentiments for the Chinese government regarding his current ambitions for the film, saying, "We want to work with the government of China to show them our good faith, to create a franchise in China followed by a TV series and video game,... Today in China, they have everything. They…

NINJA TURTLES Gets Its "Shredder"

The creators behind the latest theatrical CG/live-action installation of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sure took their time in finally letting everyone know that actor William Fichtner's character of "iconic stature" meant he is playing the Shredder. The announcement came back in May as updates were made regarding actress Megan Fox's role, that of the main Turtles' cast, and actors Will Arnett and Danny Woodburn were included in the film.

Today, has forwarded a quote from Fichtner's latest interview with Huffington Post Canada while promoting his latest TV show, Crossing Lines. While talking about playing the Shredder, Fichtner says "...It is cool. It's one of those things that came along where I thought, "Really? Let me think about this for a minute." [Laughs] Then I was like, "Yeah, OK, this sounds like a journey." I'm very glad that it worked out, I'm really glad that I'm doing it."

The Final Trailer For BADGES OF FURY Is Online

The new, final trailer for Badges Of Fury has been unveiled this opening week. I've had my doubts from time to time about this film because of its goofiness, but there is obviously a reason why it did so well at this year's Cannes Film Festival, leading up to its evident acquisition by North American distributor, Well Go USA.

Hopefully we will learn more about this film with reviews and critiques from those who have the privilege of seeing it early, as it is one of international action star Jet Li's latest films coming out just as he is well positioned to retire. In the meantime, check out the impressive "all-stars" footage below, after the synopsis.

When a spate of eerie murders erupts across Hong Kong, two troublemaking cops are assigned to the case. Young maverick WANG and grizzled vet HUANG, who is fed up with his reckless younger partner always landing them in hot water. Reaching a dead end after discovering all the victims were former boyfriends o…

The BADASSES Are Coming Home In 2014

Danny Trejo, best known for his blade-wielding badass lead role in Machete and the upcoming film, Machete Kills, made headlines back in 2012 having starred in the internet viral video-inspired film, Badass. On Thursday, reported that the sequel, Badasses, wrapped up filming and is currently in post-production, also starring Danny Glover and Andrew Divoff. 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment is handling distribution.
Both movies, written and directed by Craig Moss, are inspired by a character based on an internet camera phone recording of a fight that occured on bus mid-transit in Oakland, California back in 2010. The "winner" of that fight, Thomas A. Bruso, who was 67 at the time, became an internet sensation known as "Epic Beard Man".
The sequel will follow Trejo's character, Vietnam War veteran Frank Vega, now owning his own community center in Los Angeles where he mentors young boxers. When his prized student gets mixed up in a bad crowd and i…

The New UK Trailer For ONLY GOD FORGIVES Is Online

Radius/TWC has distribution rights to filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn's latest noir crime drama, Only God Forgives, in North America for July 19, 2013. Unfortunately U.K. audiences have to wait a little longer to see it in their cinemas before their release on August 2, 2013.

Alas, we have a new trailer featuring Kristin Scott Thomas as a vengeful crimelord heading her gangster son, played by Ryan Gosling who has no choice but to avenge his brother's death at the hands of a sword-wielding badass police lieutenant, played by Vithaya Pansringarm.

It's only 2 weeks guys...just breathe deeply. It's coming.

Jason Statham's HOMEFRONT Comes Home This Thanksgiving

Jason Statham may be flexing his acting muscles a little more in his latest film,Redemption from writer/director Steven Knight (thanks to David Fintcher). But that doesn't mean action fans won't get their share of Cockney-accented badassery with what Statham has lined, including his next film, Homefront, from writer/co-producer Sylvester Stalloneand director Gary Fleder.

And just in time for Turkey Day!

After it was recently announced that Open Road would release the film on October 4, 2013, The Wrap confirmed on Thursday that the film would release on November 27, 2013, competing in its first week with against the family film, Frozen, followed by The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Jason Statham On REDEMPTION: Not A Popcorn Movie

We have a new action clip coming from director Steven Knight's latest film, Redemption. The clip pretty much shows some of what Statham is best known for on screen, which includes screen fighting, particularly since he is capable of doing most of his own stunts, generally.

Ironically, in a recent interview posted at, Statham suggests the film is anything but what fans suspect it to be. He confesses to the Edinburgh Evening News stating, “I make a lot of films that don’t have much depth to them - they’re more like popcorn movies. I’ve been hungry for something like this for some time, where I can show more emotion. When this came my way, I jumped up and down,”. He continues throughout the interview by saying that even though he himself enjoys the physicality and fighting elements of the character he plays, Knight's film is "not a stunt extravaganza", describing the film as more focused on poignance, drama and the depth of the relationships he shares in t…

From Villain To Hero: Eiji Wentz Stars In THE TIGER MASK

You know what is so crazy and exciting about Japanese trailers for most movies? It's that no matter how long or short the footage is, you just know its going to be epic. The same goes for filmmaker Ken Ochiai's upcoming Japan-wide November release of Ge-ge-ge-no Kitaro, otherwise known as The Tiger Mask.
The film, adapted for the screen by Hidehiro Ito, Itaru Era, Micael W. Schock and co-writer/director Ken Ochiai, is inspired by the shonen manga novel by Ikki Kajiwara and Naoki Tsuji, which earned its popularity from 1968 and onward as both a graphic novel and an animated series thereafter. The original story follows a highly feared and viciously skilled heel wrestler who changes his tune and chooses to become a symbol of heroism after a young boy approaches him and expresses that he wanted to be just as villainous as he was in the ring. The upcoming film, which was originally slated for release last year, features our hero who earns the ire of an evil wrestling organization…

THE LIVING Returns This July!

If you have been keeping up with Film Combat Syndicate in its earlier months on Facebook, hopefully you would have caught onto my post back in December regarding the development and production of the post apocalyptic indie action/horror webseries, The Living. The webseries is an original property from Pisano Pictures and Atom Phly Media, starring Johnny Brillantes, Katherine Park, Richard Dreyling, and C.J. Thoms, centering its story around four people who unwittingly cross paths, left to fend for themselves in a dystopian world, plagued and on the verge of a zombie apocalypse, while on an epic search for a missing doctor who may have the answers that could possibly lead to a cure, and ultimately, mankind's salvation.
Originally a 12-part project with plans for future seasons, The Living debuted its ninth episode on Youtube late last year and has been on hiatus since then. This week, I received notice from one of its co-stars, Katherine Park, who informed me of the completion and…

Syndicate Shoutout: KATELYN BROOKE

I first came across actress, world class singer and dancer, choreographer, and screenfighting athlete Katelyn Brooke in filmmaker Micah Brock's epic indie beat 'em up fantasy webseries, Slug Street Scrappers. She plays Bruiser's spunky, tough-as-nails ballbusting kickass popstar leader of the Slugger Squad, "Peaches Powers". Considering her athleticism and her heavy specialty in boxing and hand to hand coordination, her will to experiment and test her limits, in addition to her acting made her perfect for the role, and as much as I have written about this excellent weberies, I highly recommend anyone and everyone who is an action fan to check it out.

Katelyn is also the inspiration for the name of the screenfighting action team she trains with, Fight Factory Stunt Team, which she co-founded a little over a year ago with fellow actor, indie filmmaker, martial artist and Tempest Freerunning coach Narayana Cabral. Actors Michael Lehr and Oscar Leiva are also the te…
