HERCULES Gets A Full Cast

Pro-wrestler. Scorpion King. Bounty hunter. Tooth fairy. Mutant supersoldier. Transformer. Cop. Football coach. Town sheriff. G.I. Joe. Actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been a busy man throughout his career, illuminating his enduring versatility as the actor of choice who can sell a movie for the studio lucky enough to work with him. Well, now its time for MGM to have its turn with Paramount Pictures, as Live For Films has rounded up the latest reporting that Johnson will appear in the August 1, 2014 release of co-producer and director Brett Ratner's HERCULES, produced by Beau Flynn, Barry Levine with Peter Berg, Sarah Aubrey and Jesse Berger serving as executive producers. Johnson will also be joined by an ensemble cast of actors that will include Rufus Sewell, Ian McShane, Joseph Fiennes, Rebecca Ferguson, Askel Hennie and John Hurt.

The film will be based on a screenplay by Ryan Condal and Evan Spiliotopoulos, adapted from Radical Studios' publication of the graphic novel titled "Hercules: The Thracian Wars" by Steve Moore and artist Chris Bolsin.

The news comes just as Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson takes on 2013 with many doors to open for his career, including the this week's release of G.I. Joe: Retaliation, the May 24th release of Fast And Furious 6 with a possible spin-off for his character from the franchise, and even expressing his interest in a role in J.J. Abrams' latest helmer, Star Wars: Episode VII, and a place in the James Bond franchise.

Fourteen hundred years ago, a tormented soul walked the earth that was neither man nor god. Hercules was the powerful son of the god king Zeus, for this he received nothing but suffering his entire life. After twelve arduous labors and the loss of his family, this dark, world-weary soul turned his back on the gods finding his only solace in bloody battle. Over the years he warmed to the company of six similar souls, their only bond being their love of fighting and presence of death. These men and women never question where they go to fight or why or whom, just how much they will be paid. Now the King of Thrace has hired these mercenaries to train his men to become the greatest army of all time. It is time for this bunch of lost souls to finally have their eyes opened to how far they have fallen when they must train an army to become as ruthless and blood thirsty as their reputation has become.

Fans can all smell what The Rock is cooking in the April 26 release of the new Michael Bay film, Pain And Gain with Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Mackie, Tony Shahloub, Rebel Wilson and Ed Harris. You can view the trailer below or click HERE if the embed fails to load.
